Nov 17-20: Australia A v England XI at Hobart

Agree I haven't had a good view of his technique but from the scorecard you could see he has the temperament for these collapses. He was in good form in the OD format last season as well and again rescued NSW a number of times. And now he can add this to his CV.

Well done Smith 50 up and finally a player in our Ashes squad scoring runs.

Shahzad starting to get some reward, certainly looks a promising bowler with the swing, cutters and bounce. As long as he keeps to his plan he should be in the English side soon enough.

Has some decent reverse-swing as well.

Good dam as if there wasn't enough problems with the weather, pitch, Monty Rhodes now they have to worry about reverse!

Well played O'Keefe I think he could be the bowling all rounder the commentators were harping on about, worst case if his bowling doesn't work on then he might be able to work on his batting and become a batting all rounder.

O'Keefe is another player I've watched closely over the last few years. Not bad to have a first class average of over 50 despite never having scored a century

Ian Chappell just said nipples.

First time I've heard spikes being called that. Keep him off commentating in SA where they keep showing the girls as all you would hear is that.

aussie1st added 0 Minutes and 41 Seconds later...

Yep his batting has always looked solid in the highlights I've seen. What can we expect in the bowling?

O'Keefe really needs to work on his consistency with bowling. If you look at his record it shows a very good first class bowling average but a very poor OD record and I think it's just a case of some serious inconsistency.

He tends to vary from game to game but really needs to work on getting that consistency up before he will be a genuine test bowler.

Was starting to get worried, finally got a wicket. Cameron got some good pace on him around the 145km/h mark.

I don't think that's such a bad position for Australia A. They can come back from it if they bowl England out tomorrow.

Yah Shahzad looks like a keeper. He'd be my first replacement actually. Tremlett was fairly plain for me - despite the wickets, Bresnan not much better. Both would need good conditions to worry the Aussies I think.

And just on Shahzad, he's going to get under the opposition's skins VERY quickly - he's already got under mine :p What's with all the glaring and verbal?? Oh well, everyone has their own style.

Shahzad isn't in the Ashes squad, apparently here with the development team. But I'd certainly have him in the squad after that showing.

Even though Hussey did fail today, there was only one player that did well that could take his spot, Smith. Apparently Cowan played pretty well for his 30 odd, he's also in good nick. Does anyone think he could be a chance for future tours?

Also good to see Smith runs were fighting runs, which North doesn't seem to do. Proves he's not just a slogger.

Shahzad is an excellent bowler, better than Finn & Tremlett IMHO.
