Hey LM, I just thought I'd mention how nice it is to see such a prompt response to everybody's comments. Incorporating feedback from the people who will be playing the game is definitely going to help make it the best cricket game ever! I'm sure everyone on the forum would agree that it's great to have someone making a cricket game that cares so much about the views of the players!

Well, i do take any constructive crits very seriously, cos i know no game is ever PERFECT and can always be improved. There are always things that i miss and other people notice which is great.

JK dont worry it happened the same with my friend i told him about TAOC and he was just like "Oh Sheesh those graphics are horrible"
So he said Cricket 07 is gonna be and always be way better

we are not proud of the gfx and tbh...if we had a great gfx engine which would be
affordable, we would have changed it long back....but now it would be
pointless and foolish to change the engine considering we have come so far !

also, am not really surprised with their reactions tbh......because in the era where the developers are more interested in showing
high (but not essential) detailed armpit hair, dandruff and wrinkles/freckles :
instead of putting more emphasis on gameplay (which is degrading game by game).....we have enough reason to be proud of (in terms of gameplay) !

only 2 people are working on this game where all the
animation and coding is being done by LM whos sacrificing his work/personal/social life and am doing the stadiums, gfx, 2D and many behind the scenes stuff by sacrificing my studies/social life etc......
we are always open for constructive criticism...we'll fix bugs and other issues which EA/Codies dont do !

so if you like it, you play it...otherwise your better off with EA/Codies...no one is forcing you !

at the end of the day all i can say is "IT IS MEANT FOR HARCORE AND DIE-HARD CRICKET FANS AND ALSO FOR THOSE WHO SAY BLC99>>>>>>ALL CRICKET GAMES"

6) AI randomness....there are two types in this. 1st one in which
the cursor deviates than the desired spot. the lesser the stats of the bowler
the more the chances of the cursor deviating..

A little tip from me on this

Please make sure what you have written above applies only when a human is bowling. Don't make the mistake of all EA games and apply this to AI bowling too.
For AI bowling the opposite should be true. Good bowlers should have last second deviation of the cursor to make it harder to bat for the human. Lesser bowlers should be more likely to have the cursor stay where it is to make it easier for the human to bat.

lol, im not surprised either. Obviously these dudes were uninformed. If they knew it was an amateur Indie project that will most likely be free, and if they were at all interested in gameplay in a cricket game, then they would not have made such a generalisation and dismissed the entire game as a single word - 'crap'. JK is right - crap in what way, can they be more specific? No, they cant, cos they dont know wtf they are talking about.

People who know what the project is about and want something refreshing and better than the commercial offerings know better, and have shown such great support on these forums - i would call these people 'hard core fans' which is who this game was intended for. Casual gamers, BLIC and EA fanboys probably wont like this game. But thats cool, im not trying to impress anyone.

And as for graphics...well, lets take the age old example shall we? Stick cricket - there is a reason its so popular - not because of graphics, but because its fun. TAOC graphics are ok, a bit dated without bells and whistles, but when you play the game you will be enjoying it, enjoying the realism, enjoying the physics, enjoying building realistic partnerships and score, enjoying the freeform field editor, enjoying customising everything, enjoying the batting AND the bowling, enjoying playing 5 days of a test match instead of 2 etc etc

And can i also say that this (TAOC) forum's popularity is massive, which is testament to how good it is. The game is actually pretty highly anticipated, despite the occasional negative t0sser. I have had many more positive comments than negative so this garbage doesn't concern me at all. You will ALWAYS have people that dont like something, thats life, but 90% of feedback is very positive for this game.

They're probably thinking "crap graphics, crap game".

I told them that 2 people are making it afterwoods and they haven't replied. In the opening post I said it was made by a community to try and make the games better than EA and BLIC "gameplay" wise.

LM you gotta relise that people always prefer graphics at the start but in the end its gameplay. Look at Cricket 04(patched), bad graphics but good gameplay compared to other released titles. Thats why a lot of people prefer that.Have you seen the Cricket 04 VS Cricket 05 VS Cricket 07 and Cricket 04 is like 8 votes from Cricket 07 and this was on a Cricket 07 forum!!

I'd imagine much of that is due to there being no fielding, taking nothing away from Paul's hard work, if you look at it objectively you don't see all that much at this stage that makes the game appear great. You can't play TAOC yet, so the gameplay is useless, you can't show the experience of playing TAOC in a video, so all they have to go on is graphics.

You have to see where the average viewer is coming from, the first impression will be graphics and you can say what you like about how good the game play is, but all you have to go on about that is Paul's word, I'm sure Codemasters think BLIC has good gameplay, it is in the same sort of league.

Until people can get their hands on TAOC and feel the difference from the other games, there will be scepticism. I'd expect to see responses like - I thought the graphics were poor at first, but then I got immersed in the game and forgot all about it. That sort of thing is what will convince people of TAOC's merits, it will never win a beauty contest and at the moment, with screenshots and videos being the only thing out there, that is all that it is for many.

Now I'm sure everyone knows I'm a big fan of TAOC, I'm not saying this to attack TAOC, I'm saying it so people can understand where all these people are coming from. The fact you posted it on a footy forum didn't really help, Sean

LM just carry on witht he great work you have been doing. This project is the heart of the cricket games. 90% people love this game because it is a project that meant for us "hardcore" cricket. Carry on with you great work i am always there to support this great game.
