Rugby League Nrl 2011

Warriors can go into the top 4 with a win tonight! Who would've thought after losing the first 3 of the season and looking like another year of the same old hyped up and fail to deliver. Loving the team that Ivans been putting out though, barring the exclusion of Inu. Four top quality props with two of the best in the comp and two that will end up being two of the best if they aren't all ready. Really exciting times for Warriors fans with the amount of top quality youth coming through too.

Warriors are into the top four now after last night, they still probably need to win their final two games against 5th and 6th to stay there though.

Titans are off the bottom of both tables as well, before this round they were 16th in both the NRL and the Toyota Cup. :lol

Great fight last night in the Manly - Storm game, that's what League's all about. :lol

Cracking start to the game and that fight was biggest I've seen in awhile. Storm looked to be lost in attack without Cronk but should be a lot better with him back.

I'm back from a couple of months holiday in Holland, really missed the footy over there. Happy see my Tiges on a 2005-esque run and the Dragons slipping down into that sudden death spot. Hoping the Titans roll over tonight and we rack up a 12+ point victory to move into 4th.

Can't believe that ahole Stewart wasn't binned the other night, considering people have been binned for simply running in, let alone taking a cheap shot and jumping behind 3 teammates. I think that was the only punch that landed anyway.

Gotta be happy with tonight's result, a few linebreaks that we normally finish off were bombed, but otherwise looking good. Can't wait to see how things unfold next weekend. Knights will play their first exciting game of the last couple of years, hope it's a close one.

Some great defence last night by the Tiges against the Drags. Halftime could have been a lot worse than 12-6. A bit undecided about Benji's try in the opening minutes, have seen those miskicks called knock-ons, but then it wouldn't be NRL if we had consistency.

Kinda hoping for a Tigers v. Warriors grand final for something different. Most people are probably sick of Storm, Dragons, Manly and Broncos and Cowboys and Knights aren't particularly interesting. There's a good chance they'll meet before then though.

For now I'll just hope Cowboys and Warriors get up and we'll be straight into the semis, meanwhile Drags can have their mardi gras Monday.

On a sidenote, the new Rugby League Manager game has just been released. Similar to ICC, but way more depth. It's completely free and can be downloaded from www.rugbyleaguemanager.co.uk
If there's a bit of interest here, I'll make a thread in the entertainment/games section.

Yeah, I downloaded that game this morning. I had tried the 2010 version and it was alright except that half of the forwards are rated so low. I wanted this version for the editor so I'll wait for them to release the patch even though I've already downloaded the game. Have you played the new game at all? What I didn't like about 10 is that it wasn't real time at all so hitups, tackles etc. were all too low and scoring runs were too common, like I'd be down 20-0 at half-time after only touching the ball once and then come back to win 24-20 as they don't touch the ball or vice versa.

And this is absolute bullshit. Manly have to play at Sydney Football Stadium and the crowd is smaller than it would have been at Brookvale, the only reason they moved the game and now we're getting the tweaking worst referee for this game. We should have had about 10 penalties in 3 sets but didn't get a single penalty. The NRL is such a disgrace.

Cowboys didn't deserved to be smashed by that much after going so well in the first half. Manly stepped up a gear after half time, showing their title credentials.

Warriors looked shot to pieces, Manu had an absolute shocker up there with his game against the Eels all those years ago. Broncos have been playing finals footy for a few weeks now and just continued on even without Thaiday.

I've played 3 or 4 games since patch 2 was released and it seems a little improved in the defensive area and players wear out faster, but I think you can still dominate using a control the ball strategy (fieldgoals, feats/calls) and time wasting with subs at the end of a half.

The forwards seem to be rated even lower this time. My national props were always 44-56, now they've started in the 30s.. lots of ratings of 5 and 10 in my academy too, so I need to play a bit more to figure it out I think.

Can't believe how bad the Warriors game was tonight. Mateo looked like the only one playing finals football. The refs were just as bad too.
I'll probably get my grand final wish of Tigers v. Warriors next weekend, if Storm crush the Knights like I'm predicting.

Literally saw a second of Manly's game when I woke up and saw the score and fell asleep again. Way too much sport going on right now.. US open, wc, finals footy, tests in Sri.

Yeah, like George Rose and Brent Kite were both rated in the 30s although King was rated really well. Once my exams are over, I'll get playing it.

And yeah, I was annoyed at how bad the refs were in the Warriors game as well. But great comeback for Manly to win.

And this was just stupid.

Their disappointment was in a way justified, with just 13,972 fans turning out - far less than the 23,000-capacity of Brookvale Oval.

The only reason they moved the game was to attract a bigger crowd but they would have been better off playing at Brookvale where they most likely would have got a full capacity crowd.

And WTF, Gallop is an absolute ****. Well then why should teams like Brisbane and Storm get home finals? I thought the only reason they moved the other game was to get bigger crowds.

The decision re the home finals was agreed by all clubs because you couldn't have a situation where higher drawing Sydney teams were penalised and the lower drawing teams retained the home venue

Wow 14k? The other two finals were like 45k.
We never play our finals at Leichhardt, which pisses me, but at least the crowd numbers justify the move.

I played a bit more RLM and it's definitely improved in a few areas of the game. The time wasting with subs that I referred to earlier is less effective as the game plays a fair bit faster. More sets that didn't result in any points for either side and my field goal attempts are down. After a season or two it might be a different story with a stronger lineup though.

Well I wasn't surprised. The actual figure I estimated before the match was 14,000 so I wasn't too far off :p But what did they expect, Manly vs Cowboys? Manly fans are more likely to watch it at Brookvale, there wouldn't be many Cowboys' fans and they wouldn't care which venue they were travelling to, they were never going to get anything over 20,000 at the SFS.

And is it still so easy to sign players?

That's pretty crazy, I would never have thought that low. True that it doesn't make a rat's ass difference to Cowboys fans travel wise, and would have been happier playing at the SFS given Manly's record at Brookie.

I'm thinking the semi's will shape up to be Tigers v. Storm and Manly v. Broncos. So now I've put the kiss of death on those 4, it'll be Knights v. Warriors in the final.
