NZ tour of India 2024 - 3 Tests

Excellent cricket by NZ. They have almost certainly ensured they will not lose this Test. But funny things have happened.

I know this is our lowest total at home, but I weirdly seem to be quite positive about this particular Test. I have a feeling we might still get back in it or perhaps even win this one.

The next 2 tests are in Pune and Mumbai- no idea what sort of pitch awaits us in Pune. It has always been slightly difficult to read. The Mumbai one will be curated per the needs of the team for sure. Interesting series this one.

One thing I dont get though- why is the Mumbai Test starting during Diwali? Shouldn't it be an off day?

Naah man only rain can save innings defeat.

You won't come back from a 46 all out.

Its Like 1% at the moment.

Also New Zealand has a outstanding chance of winning the series now.

Pretty sure the other matches will be playes on a square turner from Day 1.

Just need New Zealand to bat first on those track and score 300 in first innings.

Ajaz Patel, Santner even Glenn Philips will be good enough.

I've a feeling either the Test will end today or tomorrow would just be a formality.

It is actually a good opportunity for someone like Sarfaraz Khan, Jaiswal to step up and show they can bat out. I initially felt that we would skittle them for 250 odd, but with the Ravindra-Southee stand itself taking the lead to 299, the win seems very difficult from hereon.

The Ravindra referral- from the Cricinfo commentary, seems there was a flicker- might not go down too well with the Indians here. Anyhow, it is good to see India getting a stern test ahead of the Australian series.

Biggest lead taken by a visiting team against India in India
418 - SA, Ahmedabad, 2008
380 - ENG, Chennai, 1985
356 - NZ, Bengaluru, 2024*
334 - SL, Ahmedabad, 2009
333 - AUS, Delhi,1959

Sums up the Dominance of New Zealand in this game.

Jaiswal seemingly playing the 2nd fiddle, whereas Rohit seems to be treating the bowlers with disdain here.

Jaiswal goes after a decent start.

9 more to go for innings defeat.

8 more to go.

I am surprised that Kohli has lasted so long. Once he falls, expect another (KLR) to fall in quick succession. India would be batting without Pant, I suppose?

Good fightback but I sense a defeat tomorrow nonetheless.
