NZ tour of India 2024 - 3 Tests

The defensive mindset yesterday was very poor thinking.

Should have attacked in the last 11 overs the play they had in the Indian innings given it was a turner and attacking pacers straightaway should have been the tempo.

Also New Zealand has a outstanding chance of winning the series now.

Pretty sure the other matches will be playes on a square turner from Day 1.

Just need New Zealand to bat first on those track and score 300 in first innings.

Ajaz Patel, Santner even Glenn Philips will be good enough.
Well well well what did I said.

Even 250 is more than enough.

With the start that Latham has given in the first 3 overs, the signs are ominous. New Zealand would be in a commanding position even if they get knocked out for 125 odd.

Jadeja should be dropped.

His Identical Clone with a Lil bit of extra who has already done better with both and ball in the last home seasons should be preferred.

So the future spin department should like this when Ashwin and Jadeja both are retired - Washington, Axar and Kuldeep

Sai Kishore might get a chance too.

The more pressing concern is- who next after Ash and Jaddu? Washi is an option. Axar is on the wrong end of 30. Kuldeep- depends upon the captain. Will they give Chahal a go?

One of India's concerns also seems to be the lack of 3 separate teams- they have the fine line between ODI and T20 now, but I feel they need to get it done for Test matches as well. I like Rohit the captain, but have been saying it since the last BGT-he shouldn't be the Test captain.

For Test cricket-I dont mind seeing a draw, good old-fashioned, hard fought cricket. Get in those specialists for those matches- Let Pujara take centre stage. Slam Bang, Thank you Ma'am/Whatever they like wont work in Test matches.

Pitch has not played too bad is what I felt

I think some poor shots by Indian batters against a very disciplined New Zealand bowling.

Ok

Which end he on?
Axar is 31 or so. Might play a couple more years, then the cycle begins again.

Pujara- might be the need of the hour, especially in Australia.

The pitch is actually good. Unlike the dust bowl they rolled out a few years ago vs Australia. The batsmen need application, that's all.

Very tough to chase this. NZ mighty favourites. But still I would like to see India put up a fight and not surrender meekly.

This is the first time I see this bloke something positive.

I think what we all want is a fight from India. The last test +3 days here have been very one-sided. In home conditions, one would expect the team to be a bit positive.

It is a mountain to climb, this target. For the likes of Yashasvi and SN Khan, this is a massive opportunity to play a defining innings here.
