ODI should be scrapped

Of course the CWC or WT20

A wiser man had said that the only constant in this world is "Changes". And, who go along with the changes and demand, will be the successful.

Biggest example is Nokia, once upon a time, it had market share of 90% in entire mobile phone market, now it bite the dust, the reason is could not able to walk with the changes and demand.

Same thing is happening to Cricket as a sport, majority of the people who cant afford to spend 6 to 7 hours in a day, and at the end you have to wait 4 more days to know the result. Does this kind of cricket has any visibility? It may be the purest of cricket or what you name it, but the situation is changing and if cricket need to survive with other complete sports then you have to change accordingly.

Keep test with in few teams who have interest, but promote T20 to new territories to garner popularity. All the best:cheers

ODIs act as an all-rounder in the team. They are a combination of both tests and t20s and check the adaptability of a batsman or bowler

The older formats simply can’t compete. Relatively few people want to spend an entire day watching cricket, even fewer want to watch five full days. Three hours of prime time evening entertainment on the other hand is what the sponsors want because it’s what the public wants.

Boasting a national average audience of 1.1 million viewers on Network Ten, the BBL has soared above the Australian Football League and National Rugby League, who average 804,000 and 887,600 per match on free-to-air television respectively.
Worth noting that the same figure - national average audience - for the ODIs played in Australia shown on Channel Nine this year is 1.67 million viewers for the second session. The data isn't fully available for regional areas for all the first sessions, but for the two matches where it is, including the whole match makes the average 1.48 million.

At least in the UK this is clearly not true: viewing figures for Tests are higher than any other format of the game: and attendance (ignoring dead day fives or days where the away team needs ten to win and has two days to do it) is very close to T20 attendances; which is very impressive considering the fact that the latter usually takes place on evenings or weekday afternoons. Admittedly viewing figures here are hurt by the whole pay TV thing; although I can't imagine that T20 Cricket would be much bigger than your average Test match if the BBC had the rights.

Last year I went to see England play New Zealand at Chester-le-Street in an ODI; and despite it being the sort of ODI that you'd expect to be half empty by the end (lots of rain, England being four down in like the fifth over of their chase) everyone stayed and saw a really great chase, with England winning with an over to spare. There was a great atmosphere for most of the time (bar the huge amount of rain when everyone was hiding under the stands of course); and when play was actually happening the ground was never less than 90% full - admittedly an English ground, so its smaller than in many other countries. I like the fact that most Cricket games are an all-day thing; it makes them feel special, compared to most other sports. I think that lots of Cricket fans agree with me!

No matter what, it's time to accept that T20 and ODI's(to some extent) are the real forms of the game and that Test cricket is simply old, boring, time and resource consuming. If we spend the funds towards shorter formats (specially t20 leagues) we can bring out so much talent from associate nations and soon be a lot like Football has become. Unfortunately CA and ECB want to still live in the Victorian Era. Clearly the numbers state otherwise.

Then why not keep 5 over matches. Why not keep the boundaries very short and no fielders because most of the public wants to see sixes and fours

Abolishing Test Matches would not hekp Associate Cricket in any way - indeed taking away the most interesting and unique form of the game would probably hurt it. There are plenty ways to grow the game around the world that they aren't doing at the moment, none of them involve only playing T20s and totally transforming the game from what it currently is.

Our discussion here was about ODI existence. Test cricket is the purest form and we all love to enjoy it.[DOUBLEPOST=1462895272][/DOUBLEPOST]

Agreed , but too much cricket in any format is real concern .

The main trouble at the moment is not necessarily the format of the test but the way series are organized with no real meaning. In fact for the moment the matches are organized just for the sake of matches to be organized.

lets face it..........

after above 100 years of cricket ...this game only played between 8-10 countries .Have you ever noticed this aspect my dear Test cricket lovers.i dont want to argue over this.

But Dear to Survive the Game ...It needs to produce money and in this way T20 is well driving.

Utter sesame street......this is complete subjective nonsense...its like stating that breakfast is becoming old-fashioned...it just doesn't correlate with actual facts.....
