Oxford/Cambridge

You have to do weird tests to get in and answer dumb questions like what is the point in a potato. I'm obviously to stupid to understand it ;)

My teacher told me they may ask you stuff like ?why you want to be a doctor??, then you say ?because I?d like to help people?, then they say ?then why not be a nurse?. lol, they try to trick you.

you have to write personal statements for every uni application don't you???

but for oxbridge there are lot of interviews and tests invlolved...it's not only about 3As

I reckon the Oxbridge thing is all hype. My school pushed people to apply who were predicted C's and D's just so they could say they had a record number of Oxbridge applicants. I refused to apply there as I really didn't like the Oxbridge attitude and it hacked me off that because I was predicted good A levels the school told me I should be applying there.
An Oxbridge education isn't the be all and end all. Socially you're much better off at Bristol, Leeds, York, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham etc.

Now, that is very interesting. Of course, an Oxbridge education is a good decoration for a CV as it (whether rightly or wrongly) indicates a high quality of education and a hard working attitude. However, you could be right about the lack of social life. I do wish to study PPE at Oxford, however, would not be pleased if I had to spend my university days working and nothing else - I do appreciate that university is as much of a 'growing up' experience as an education one.

Tbf, University is what you make of it, rather than what the university itself makes of you. A number of people I could cite as genius' in some form went to very low ranking universities. For example, the bassist from Blur Alex James, met one of his life long friends, Billionaire artists Damien Hurst at the, at the time, worst London university, 3rd worst in the UK at the time. Yet Damien Hirst is worth more than all the people on this board, and then soem.

uni is supposed to be the best time of your life so you don't wanna spend that stuck in a room studying all the time...you wanna go our with your mates and have fun...so for me preference would be a uni with good social life which oxbridge hardly seems to have

I know many students in Oxbridge, more in Cambridge actually, and all of them love their place. Sure, there'll be some who may not like it but that's to be expected at any university. It depends what you call a "social life". If you prefer a much more relaxed atmosphere, where you can afford to party often and turn up to lectures with a hangover then the place isn't for you. But if you don't mind working hard, the reward's there.

I'll be applying to Cambridge to study Natural Sciences. Great if I get in, but I won't be too disappointed if I don't.

That's where I trip up ;)

Tbf Adarsh you won't have any problems getting in. You seem clever enough to get the grades, and iirc your Asian, which does you the world of good in uni admission these days.

so that means I can also get in a good Uni because I'm Asian too? but asian I think is east-Asian people?

i think he meant that cos asian people are generally well prepared and usually do pretty well in their a levels

Nope. If your foreign, uni's want you for the fee's. Just sums up how unjust the system is, pandering to the minority even if they aren't as bright as others who might be applying.
