there is this interesting article at cricinfo, i'm sure some people must have read this

I'm putting some excerpt which i thought was interesting.

"For the Indians, though, this will be a tough loss to recover from. Sourav Ganguly made one early change from the script used in that game against West Indies in 2002 ? he had chosen to field after winning the toss in that game ? but no-one can blame Ganguly for his decision today: the team batting first has been winning in this series, and despite the excess moisture on the pitch which caused an hour's delay, the track looked a belter when play finally began. What Ganguly will find much tougher to justify is his promotion to No. 4 in the batting line-up after the outstanding start that the top three had given the team. "

I am sure everyone will agree to that, i was totally surprised when Ganguly came in at no.4. This is the point that proved costly for the indians, because those 20 odd dot balls could have been converted into 30 runs atleast which would be a decisive factor for the Indians.

"Ganguly might have opted for the move to prove a point about his batting, but all he managed was eat up 33 balls in scoring 18 runs in a match in which all batsmen scored at around a run a ball or more. With the innings already 32 overs old when Mahendra Singh Dhoni got out, logic would have suggested that Rahul Dravid, Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif be the chosen ones to play the next 16 overs, with Ganguly coming in only if absolutely required to. Ganguly's stay at the crease not only checked the momentum, it also meant Sachin Tendulkar was struggling for strike ? he faced only 21 balls when Ganguly was at the crease. "

"What stood out, though, was the manner in which he dismantled Danish Kaneria, negating his leg-stump line with a meaty reverse-sweep, and twinkle-toed footwork which allowed him to get inside the line and smash straight hits. Unlike many of his recent innings, he didn't hold back after reaching his fifty ? his second half-century came in just 43 balls, and was probably indicative of the fact that he had read the pitch as one on which no total would be safe. He was proved right. "

Sachin is back to his best , i would say. it has been long time since he came down the track to smash the bowlers. That one six was breathtaking and some pulls of the seamers too was an indication of his vintage self.

"The final result also put in the shade an outstanding batting effort by Tendulkar. Plenty has been written about his form, but unlike Ganguly, who seldom even looks like buying a run, Tendulkar has been middling the ball well, was consistent in the Tests, and had only failed a couple of times ? a big score was round the corner"

It will be interesting to see what the captains opt for, bat/ball especially at Kanpur. Pakistan should field the same side, while indians will have some thoughts to ponder on.

And all credits to Imzimam and Shoiab Malik for handling the situation very well.

Here is my Indian side for Kanpur based on the batting order

V Sehwag, S Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, M Kaif, R Dravid, Y Singh, D Mongia, A Agarkar, A Kumble, Z Khan, A Nehra

I included Agarkar because Balaji is not bowling any good now.. And Agarkar can do well with the bat if he is in form! I hope this team plays and I feel India might pull off a win at Kanpur.

sorry man, everything was nice till you picked nehra, nehra is absolute bull crap compared to balaji, and also where you watching the same match that i was watching?

Balaji 7 0 51 1
Nehra 9 0 75 0

with those statistics, only an absolute dumbass will pick nehra over balaji.. sorry, i had to be harsh, but it's the truth, ganguly and nehra were the reason we lost..

Excellent cricket from Pakistan. Whata match it was. Hope India will win the next match... God please help us.

I picked Nehra because he was unusually good today in the field. He effected two good run outs which brought the match that close.. Or else, Pakistan would have won in a canter!

does any 1 care if sourav ganguly retire

I do care. I don't want him to be ritired. I think i agree with Sai cause gangully alwasy led us to final in ICC Knockout, WC2003 and some other tornaments too.

Listen When The world cup started.Inzamam was struggling 9 matches only 19 runs,Every one goes through a bad patch,To really think of retiring a player like sourav ganguly then you must be crazy,His average is 40 over all So He cant be a bad player,He needs some time to get back to form,I got his back Till he him self decides to retire.

lol, they would have won in a canter due to his unusually erratic bowling..

I hate that bowler A. Nehra. Man he gave too many extras and boundaries.

Fast/Medium bowlers does go for runs in The last remaining overs specially When it is a must win situation for The opposite Team,He is a regular wicket Taker and If They would Take him out Then india will be in deep, dont forget That Nehra was The one who took Shahid Afridis Wicket Twice In Two Matches.Nehra Is a good bowler A very good one,
