What do you guys think of the Pakistan test squad for Australia?

Most of it is unsurprising.
Saim Ayub's selection is concerning, he shouldn't be thrown to the wolves in Australia on debut. You're gonna lose 3-0 anyway, just put Imam there and hopefully it turns out to be his last series.
Personally would've prefered Haseebullah over Sarfaraz, and Mohammad Abbas over Noman Ali.

Don't think you'll be needing a second spinner alongside Abrar in Australia.
They don't know he still exists
Australia regularly play two spinners at the SCG. Although probably it's better to have Agha do that job with Abrar.
Regarding Abbas, is an average speed in the 120s gonna work in Australia? It didn't last time (although he was half-fit). I would rather try him in England or New Zealand.

I would hope that's not the case anymore as he's no longer injured (like you alluded to). I was hoping maybe he can do for us what Hazlewood and Boland do for Australia as super-disciplined holding bowlers, while Naseem and Shaheen run amuck like Cummins and Starc. Now sadly, we don't have Naseem due to his injury, but ideally, that would make for a solid trio for Test bowling, IMO.

I guess we can entrust Hasan in that Abbas role, and *chuckles* Wasim in that Naseem role. we're doomed.

*Ideally*

Abdullah Shafique
Imam Ul Haq
Shan Masood :c:
Babar Azam
Mohammad Rizwan
Saud Shakeel
Agha Salman
Faheem Ashraf/Aamer Jamal
Hasan Ali
Shaheen Afridi
Mohammad Wasim Jr./Abrar Ahmed
We all know Sarfraz is gonna play ahead of Rizwan.
I am a bit skeptical about dropping Abrar though, what's the argument for that?

Hazlewood and Boland can extract solid bounce from most surfaces and Hazlewood can bowl in the mid 130s to 140, I’m not sure Abbas can do any of that.

We are completely and totally doomed.
Warner, Khawaja, Marnus, Smith, Head. Scary top 5.

Maybe not, but he's our best bet for that kind of bowling. I don't trust Hasan Ali or Wasim Jr. or Haris Rauf to have that kind of discipline.

We all know Sarfraz is gonna play ahead of Rizwan.
I will lose my shit if that happens.

I also find Wahab throwing a fit over Rauf pulling out quite funny.
Yeah exactly, he just saved a year of his career by not playing this series.
And Wahab and Amir retired from Tests before the 2019 tour to Australia. We had to take a half-fit Abbas, and two rookies in Naseem and Musa Khan.

I'm an Abbas fan but he was unappreciated by Pakistan and has found a home in the County Circuit. Pakistan's bowling unit is looking very weak in tests, particularly away from home and especially without a burgeoning Naseem Shah. The batting is looking just as bad considering they now have to carry Shan without choice.

In that case they’ll just play him out like they did against Jimmy and whack the rest of the attack.

Precisely why I find it funny.

Last year he played a Test against England after the World Cup, got immediately injured. The same would have happened this time. Good decision to skip this shitshow
