I think you guys are over doing it now. He has served the penalty of being unfit. He isn't representing the entire team morale.

My biggest worry for Pakistan is that they still haven't nailed the final XI nor the order of the players. I hope they can use this an attacking element of surprise rather than their usual unpredictability.

Pakistan's biggest hurdle has been the right combination. I hope Sarfraz will cope up early. Thanks to Waqar Younis for not being the Coach. I hope Sarfraz will take the charge better. In Cricket, Its the Captain who is the main man while coach plays an assistant role.

I see few problems in Playing XI. Where will Hafeez bat? (It will not be a good decision to play him as an opener in England conditions)
Sarfraz should not bat under no. 5. Who can play a role of power-hitter at no. 6/7?

Completely agree. Pakistan has a lot of middle order batsmen fighting for the same couple of spots.

- Haris Sohail, Mohammad Hafeez, Babar Azam and Sarfaraz all are better in top half of the batting as they don't have the natural power hitting game.

Stupidly, I don't think we have any practice games before the tournament starts?

How about Fahim Ashraf? Can he play as power-hitter? Also what about Hafeez batting at no.6?

The thing with Fahim Ashraf is he more of a bowler and most importantly, he is unlikely to get a run in the CT. But we are still missing the Afridi and Razzaq?

With Hafeez, if he isn't bowling a minimum of 6 overs he shouldn't be included in the line-up. I am in favor of him coming in at 6 but because of his experience, he is highly unlikely too.

I think Sarfraz should take a charge and come at No 4 or maybe open the innings or at No. 2 Slot. An aggressive approach is required up the order. And yea, we are lacking a power hitter after the middle order. We have to rely on Imad who isn't a power hitter but a strong figther. Fakhar Zaman is another good hitter but he is a specialist opener I believe.

To be honest, Fahim Ashraf is looking boghus to me, I saw him bat and bowl in highlights... Had he been that smash hitter he would have been awarded a chance against Windies.

I am not worrying about 350 or 400 runs. Our bowling lineup is quite strong to pack all the team, Its just that the right momentum and spirit has to burn at the right time.

PS: Practice Games or traditional rules don't belong to our side, We can be nothing in warm-up matches and can be big thing in the tournament matches and vice versa :)

Pitches in England this time are very flat so 300 will be absolute minimum. Hafeez should bat as opener along with Fakhar Zaman, Hafeez usually bat very well on flat pitches specially against India plus his bowling is very important on these pitches. No#3 will be Babar Azam, No#4 should be Harris Sohail. Sarfraz should bat ahead of Shoaib Malik, since Shoaib can act as a pinch hitter too. Shadab and Imad are good all-rounders so they should come next. Amir,Ali and Junaid should form the pace attack. Wahab will leak too many runs on these flat pitches unless he only bowl yorkers similar to what Gul used to do.
Also Sarfraz needs to be proactive, he should float himself as No#4 or even open if Hafeez is not performing well but should never change the playing XI from the first Warm-up till Pakistan last in CT. Pakistan usually play well when nobody give them a chance and this time not even Pakistani supporters are expecting much from them. Second is the way Sarfraz leads, he will fight till the end, he will get angry and try to extract best from the players.

Mohammad Hafeez
Fakhar Zaman
Babar Azam
Harris Sohail
Sarfraz Ahmed
Shoaib Malik
Shadab Khan
Imad Wasim
Mohammad Amir
Hassan Ali
Junaid Khan

Fahim Ashraf must've been reading this thread!

Didn't get to watch the match, but I remember looking at Pakistan 7 wickets down and thinking they had no chance... then I check the score again last night and saw that they won. Wish I could've seen that knock.

So its almost certain that Fahim will be in the playing XI for most of the tournament if not all, so I guess he should replace either Imad or Shadab. Although having 4 pace bowlers is not a good idea specially against SA but Pakistan should go with 4 pace and two spinners (Shadab and Hafeez) against India. India is probably the best to play regular spin bowling in ODIs and Imad is easier for India to negotiate.
