Pakistan to refuse to play WC games in India

No one is coming to Pakistan, not for all the money in the world. Deal with it. Its laughable when I hear the PCB suggest a Pakistani premiere league.

Do you not think some Indians who still think Pakistan are to blame for 26/11 would not try to harm the team?

Or prehaps the fact that one of the major political parties of India want to declare war on Pakistan?

It says Pakistan don't wont to play in India, but then names India as a place where they would like to play there games?

It's not an article. Where I say "I just noticed" is what I actually noticed.

I'm just reporting the news in this mornings newspaper.

zmario, Read this again:

Pakistan have refused to play their World Cup games in India due to security fears (and rightly so), and have asked for the schedule to be modified so that their games are to be played in Sri Lanka and India.

So they don't want to play in India, so they want a change in schedule so they can play.....in India?

Either way, it looks like the legal battle between PCB and ICC is to continue, and the PCB legally have a major case against the ICC - it looks like the PCB will win if they continue.

I'd like to know why you think they would win?

They wont, they have no basis for negotiation, their boards incompetence almost led to an entire team being murdered in broad daylight. PCB has no leverage and should take the scraps we throw at them

It's based on technicalities.

In the meeting where the ICC said Pakistan will not host any WC games, the agenda for this meeting did not state that.

Prehaps this is more of a protest in that the PCB want their games to be held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, but the BCCI is obviously not allowing that to happen.

BCCI has "issues" with the UAE as a venue due to suppoused "match-fixing" during the Sharjah days (or India just lost alot in Sharjah )

Anyway, legally, the PCB have a case I think. Realistically, and if sanity was to prevail, I highly doubt they do. The ONLY thing they have a case in is having their games moved to Dubai or Abu Dhabi instead of having India reap the benefits.

The Executive Board, while taking this decision, completely failed to take into account that the law and order situation in the entire sub-continent is not exemplary;

Bangladesh recently faced mutiny by its armed forces and refused to host Pakistan on accounts of security concerns which resulted in cancellation of Pakistan Series in Bangladesh in March 2009.

Sri Lanka is embroiled in a long standing civil war

India due to law and order situation had to relocate IPL Series to South Africa although the official reason given is IPL schedule clash with the national elections. Recently Australia refused to send its Tennis Team to India for Davis Cup which was due to be held in Chennai, India.

If security and safety was the only reason, no security assessment of the other three co-hosts has been done.

Now while security in India and Sri Lanka seem ok (not too sure about Bangladesh - PCB canceled a U-19 tour to Bangladesh), normal procedure would say that you would carry out a security analysis of those countries, including Pakistan. I'd say PCB actually has a case now.

It is very surprising that this decision was passed in a meeting which was not even authorised to do so. As per procedure, it is the IDI Board and not the Executive Board that is only authorized to make recommendation to the Meeting of Members of ICC which is the Annual Conference and which is alone authorized to take decision on it. The ICC Executive Board in which this decision was made on 17th April, has purposed to exercise a power which vests only in IDI.

Yep, the ICC is pretty stupid. Did they honestly think that the PCB would just sit there allowing other countries to host its games? If you're gonna do something (the ICC did take the right decision, although PCB should be allowed to host its games in UAE) like this, then at least do it right and close the loopholes (well this is alot bigger than a loophole).

I see where your coming from there, and I agree fully. Why should India like you said get extra games.

Sri Lankan war is over.

The situation in Pakistan is entirely different than in India or Sri Lanka. I dont understand why you think they are similar. Pakistan has an open border with a country that is over run with terrorists. They move freely between the two and there are many terror cells that operate within Pakistan itself. Stop trying to compare it to the Indian security situation or a now finished civil war. PCB will lose the legal battle, Even if Pakistan boycotts the world cup nothing will happen, they dont have the financial power to have any affect on world cricket.

Its sad but its true. PCB is just going to have to bend over and take it.
