So what you're saying is that if Guptill got centuries in both innings but got out to stupid shots, you'd drop him and bring in Franklin? That's just silly.

Nah I guess I was just emotional lol, but seriously I would drop him. You can't get away with getting out like that at test level. Everyone got excited with Wright as coach, but nothing will change if all the players care about is trying to get an IPL contract. Now that Franklin and McCullum got them, Guptill and Southee etc. will no doubt go into the next auction.

Now that Franklin and McCullum got them, Guptill and Southee etc. will no doubt go into the next auction.

You seem to think that the root of NZs problems is the IPL, that if players get IPL contracts, they'll immediately stop caring about playing international cricket. It may very well be a factor, it may not. There are so many other reasons why NZ struggle before you even come to consider the IPL.

And the reason that Pakistan isn't involved in the IPL is in all likelihood due to politics between India and Pakistan.
