Pakistani Tour of New Zealand, Dec-Feb 2010/11

Back here guys sorry off topic

Well well well good start by pak but see how long they can carry on this.Azhar is looking good hopefully he'll get his first century

but for younis please for God sake perform this time otherwise pack your bag for Peshawar

Nothing against Dan the man but I do admit he really is no world beater with the ball in tests. For a frontline spinner he doesn't look threatening at all and he's hardly getting any turn or good flight. He does well in the ODI's with his good variations of pace but boy he's very average in tests.

However I think it could be a case of not having that quality quick alongside him to really establish himself, it would be interesting to see what he avreaged with the ball in tests with Bond in the side.

I've posted the stats before but he does extremely well with Bond. Averages something like 25 iirc

and he's going to retire from ODI & T20I cricket after the world cup to concentrate on getting 5000 runs and 400 wickets. Considering how many tests NZ play the chances of that happening are very low. Apparently he still wants to play IPL cricket but without playing any sort of One Day cricket how is he going to get selected?

I hadn't heard he was retiring from those formats after the WC, I thought it was only from the captaincy?

Doull and Richardson were talking about a full retirement yesterday when vettori was in the 70-80's.

Pakistan batting sure does look solid of late, its just a shame their bowlers did what they did else they could be a top team.

----------

Very similar average with the bat, but his bowling goes down to 24.74 from 34.1. His ODI average goes up however.

That's interesting, thought he was a better bowler when he came onto the scene. I remember the commentators talking about him being the quickest to 100 wickets or something. What that shows is how little Test NZ are playing. You have bowlers getting that many wickets in 1 year.

Yeah, thats no surprise really, he had a great bowler backing him up. I feel kinda sorry for Vettori here. The rest of the attack has been pretty rubbish (apart from Southee whos done ok). Martin and Arnel probably have to go. I really like Martin but he is just too old and doesn't have the same zip he had, hes only bowling 130 with the wind. Arnel is pretty woeful, tbh he bowls like a club bowler, 120k seam up. You won't get batsman out like that at the top level. I'd assume if Hamish Bennett had more cricket under his belt he would be there though.

lol we only really have them 2 down....

What BS, 2 out of the 5 wickets are on CLEARLY wrong decisions.

ICC can take these umpires and their "elite" panel and shove it up their ass.

Pakistan have had 6 decisions that have gone against them so far in the test (2 resulting in loss of wickets) while New Zealand have only had 2 go against them (1 resulting in a loss of a wicket).

If UDRS isn't implemented in EVERY ODI and Test match after this, I don't know what to say. It doesn't require even hawk-eye for God's sake, anyone with an ounce of common sense can make these decisions.

Yeah for some reason Pakistan team is always at the wrong end of these decisions. We all know Darryl Harper is crap but this other umpire has totally outdone harper's shitiness. I don't understand why ICC can not implement UDRS universally. Its the damn governing body :facepalm. If Pakistan go onto lose this match, it will be mostly an umpiring fault.

^I think he also got a life in the same test when he gloved it down the legside so that pretty much evens it out for that test.

I'm not complaining, I'm just saying you can't say "If Pakistan go onto lose this match, it will be mostly an umpiring fault.", remember one of your guys also got a life this innings when he was caught behind off Vettori, so therefore that cancels out one of the bad umpiring decisions according to you, therefore overall that's only one decision that's gone against you this innings.

Hopefully Martin can get to his 200 in the second innings. He should be able to. only 3 wickets. I just feel thats the only reason the selectors haven't really dropped him. He had that really good spell in India but just looks past it tbh. Also wtf is with Arnel padded up as nightwatchman?? They must be pretty confident of not losing a wicket, because atm Martin is batting better than him.

----------

That no ball was over by a mile. I can't believe how bad Harpers umpiring has been of late. He must simply have just not been looking at the line.

Arnel is better than Martin at batting, despite Martin being in good form. And I would trust Arnel more than Southee at playing defensive strokes.
