Pakistani Tour of New Zealand, Dec-Feb 2010/11

Someone in our top three/four simply needs a massive score if we're going to post a decent total.

Our line-up's a total shambles, at the beginning of the series everyone on here agreed with our best possible line-up, but this whole series they've just been mucking around. The only thing they've seemed to learn is that How is a terrible selection, so he's finally been dropped. I guess it doesn't help that Vettori, and Oram are now injured.

So after all talk of dropping McCullum down the order, he's opening again. Ryder coming in at 3. Hopefully this is to give him time in the middle and not a reversal of their decision. But big load of good that did; he's already out.

Poor fielding by Pakistan and wayward bowling (especially by Tanvir) being the reason NZ are ahead.

If Pakistan took 1 or 2 of their chances (including run outs) New Zealand would be out of this game

BTW while I'm here these boundaries are a joke.

60 metres straight?! 55 side?!

It's because it's a rugby ground, like most of our grounds are in New Zealand.

The best actual cricket ground in Auckland where the Aces play doesn't have any stands, so it has only a capacity of a few thousand.

That doesn't mean the field has to be small?

Couldnt they have made the stadium bigger and then redesign the field boundaries for rugby to fit the playing conditions (for rugby)?

WTF? You don't deserve a runner for being a FATASS.

You'll probably find that they've made it so that they're minimum size required for international cricket.

As you probably know rugby fields are rectangular, and you want to be as close to the action as possible, so you don't want a circle where the middle of the field is a while from the stand.

It's the same for both teams, so in the end it doesn't really matter.

A vastly improved batting effort from NZ. Typical they perform when it's a dead rubber. Now watch their bowling fail.

not very good captaincy by Afridi... made a few glaring mistakes... Umar only bowled 9 overs and not his full quota. Sohail Tanvir heavily punished in his 7, while Razzaq was economically excellent and only bowled 7. If he would have bowled 10 Tanvir wouldn't have need to come for the last spell where he got smacked. And this is not a decision with hindsight.... Tanvir had already gone for 10 rpo in his initial five.

And Hafeez is no Saeed Ajmal. And forget about the wrong Powerplay call. He will have to make amends with his batting and they surely need him now.

Though the ground is freakishly small.....

On a purely length by width basis, the square boundary is close to but definitely under size. As it's such a square field of course, the resulting diagonals are ridiculously short.

However, Eden Park is a very old ground. All grounds that were approved before 2007 are exempt from the modern standard.

We needed that win.

It's been an interesting series, with only one out of the six games going down the the wire.

I think AUS and SL will be the top two teams in our group at the WC, so IMO the reply of this series at the WC will just be sorting out the 3rd/4th seeds for the quarter-finals.

Security at Eden Park was pretty harsh, they weren't allowing the beach ball and one guy got ejected for walking on some seats to pick up the beach ball.

The new stand looks really good, managed to go all the way to the top would say the 2nd tier gave the best view from that stand.

As for the match, good awesome hitting by Ryder early on and brilliant finishing, didn't think they would make 300 after 40 overs but they made it with ease.

they were not even allowing water bottles and for some stupid reason the police was helping out checking for branded items. the mcg security are more lenient than this.

although i like the way all stands are now connected, i ended up sitting close to the sight screen in the South Stand when i originally bought tickets for the west stand. :p
