Pakistan's tour of England - August/September - 3 Tests/3 T20Is

Just wanted to talk about the cricket and it's administration-

There has been a lot of effort taken to make bio secure bubbles and what not to have a healthy environment made for test cricket to happen. I'm pretty sure a lot of money is at stake as well on this. How hard is it to push schedules by the number of days lost to weather and still have the test match held?

It's preposterous how the ICC and the sport in general sticks to its idealist mindset in a situation that demands adaptability. This pandemic is a test of society, humanity and all organisations across the globe and unsurprisingly the ICC is one big fail.

The ICC suck at managing the game in normal circumstances, the bio-bubble, COVID-19 world was always going to be the proverbial shitstorm. Its an organisation not fit for purpose

You'll love this take then...

Really?

His technique isn't up to anything much - he's constantly playing across the ball with an open face, so he's going to be deeply vulnerable to any kind of lateral movement away. He's more vulnerable against fast-medium than outright fast bowling because there's more time for the ball to move; against outright pace bowling it's often less about the fine technical points and more about hand-eye.

Yes, there's something there to work with - his back foot game is pretty good, and he's able to play spin. But he's also not ready at all, number three in a Test team is a pretty steep learning curve for someone who's a prime target for good new ball bowlers.

Just had a look at Zak Crawley's stats and they remind me of a mid-2000s Bangladeshi number three

His entry has genuinely puzzled me. He was called up as a backup opener due to having one impressive season which seemed fair given that the incumbents in the past were Jennings et al. Had a decent start and all of a sudden he is now the long term number three?

Long term number 3 in the England squad is akin to cannon fodder at the moment, he wont last.

I mean they could still go back to Denly :p

I don't think he got picked for another reason than he plays for Kent but he's looked good at times. Had that run of improving his top score every match which showed progression. He was unlucky to be left out because of injury to another player.

He could use a century at the moment he's looking like a cross between Joe Root and Joe Denly: getting a nice 50 then out.

His saving grace is Dan Lawrence has been in the bubble too and Sam Hain has about 20 runs in 6 innings. So there's no one standing out to challenge his place.
