Brooke Walker's forgettable Test career does no justice to how good of a player he was: he captained and spun his beloved Auckland to three straight Plunket Shields before retiring from first-class cricket at the young age of 28. Barely a year later, Kiwi domestic cricket turned professional for the first time. Few players have been failed by cricket as badly as Brooke Walker.

He would finish his first-class career with a batting average of just 8.52 despite being good enough to average over 155 in a season for East Melbourne. A very good bowling all-rounder in domestic cricket who has been a great signing for Gloucestershire, it's probably fair to say that Test cricket might have been a level too far for Zafar Gohar, in a way that is not meant as a criticism of him.
