Not before but did at your suggestion. Not very different, marginally more green perhaps. My recollection was grassy looked much greener even on the filter pre-patch[DOUBLEPOST=1525381553][/DOUBLEPOST]
Yeah and it’s supposed to be spicy!
Try grassy wearing or worn. I find pristine is just too pristine for my liking. Wearing has character and if you don't exit, visible deteriation happens

So, I had a session and a half of batting in the match I was streaming. Finally, I'm getting there in terms of ability and enjoyment. Although I don't like rushing to judgement it feels like some time at the crease, instead of being skittled for 50, gave me a better chance to evaluate and adapt to batting. There are still some irritations, as there are with bowling:

Batsman getting run out just stood outside his crease.
Keepers teleporting to take catches they shouldn't/wouldn't.
There still needs to be refinements to timing and shot selection in my opinion but putting in the effort is worth it.

I had several rage quits because of dismissals that I wouldn't accept or were unacceptable. :lol There are probably more issues but I don't want to whine when I've got positive things to say.

Getting in is very hard but when you do (get to the first green colour of confidence) it is very rewarding. It's no longer the 20-30 balls and away you go. Root and Malan were closer to 65-70 balls before I got them into the light green fully confident zone. The Root 50, and 99 partnership with Malan, are probably the hardest fought batting I've had on this or any other BA cricket game. The good was great the bad was not so great. But I do feel like the good is beginning to shine through.

Now, for me anyway, their is a real necessity to get yourself in, just like test cricket. I've always felt it can be too easy to just play shots and score runs regardless with the level of immersion and realism being dependent on how much the individual is prepared to go. I was quite critical about this a while back - maybe I wasn't but I remember thinking it. The game itself is actually bringing a real feel of test cricket, penalties for poor shots or trying too much too quickly and rewards for patience.

Generally I've preferred 50/T20 on DBC17 and Ashes up until now but test cricket feels like it is close to being very enjoyable and worthy of the time investment. Still, I'd say let's hope both those formats can be brought up to the same level.

@wasteyouryouth what difficulty level you are playing ?
I have found it hard to score boundaries in Pro/Hard batting but able to get the scorecard ticking by taking single/doubles almost 8/10 balls, so the confidence gets a boost (green colour) in 20-25 balls.

May be wondering whether the confidence boost varies for different levels, it’s 25 balls for Pro/Hard and 40 balls for Pro/Hardest and so on.

I have seen difference in confidence in different match type. T20 , Odi , test etc.
The batting difficulty did not make any change to the confidence . Haven't really checked if Match difficulty makes any difference.

Legend difficulty.
Hardest for batting with just the pitch marker. I have modifiers active for batting set to 71. This is apart from 8, I think, for the one relating to batting markers, but I don't know if this has any impact on the pitch marker, it didn't seem to. But, I wanted that to appear late because it made the transition from the old timing to the new a lot easier.

Only other modifiers I have: Swing at 100 and Minimum Bowling Speed to 60 or 65.

The other factors could be the teams are ones I skilled myself. So they are all lower than their original counterparts.
I play and miss A LOT at the moment which I think results in confidence not going up as fast. I also tend to get hit leaving or missing.

Boundaries can be tough to score at first but once confidence is up I find they come.

Though I don't play on PC, IMO, I guess it would be better to have a open beta build. It's not that the game is not released yet (and the last one was open). Moreover, the people who would have access to it would be only the ones who has purchased the game already.

Cover And straight drives are ridiculously easy to play. Like the ability to customize your gameplay though with sliders and modifiers though

According to me, every shot should be balanced. Same goes with bowling, there shouldn't be an added advantage for any type of delivery or shot. Everything should boil ideally down to how well you getting the variables in green ie batting - footwork, timing, shot selection, similarly for bowling.

The general texture of green or dusty pitch isnt that great looking, its visually drab compared to dbc 14. That along with deterioration not saving just makes it bland looking at times.

The green need to be greener, cracks need to be darker, dusties needs to be redder in worn patches.
