[PCCL 2010] Feedback Thread

One needs to be based in the Democratic Republic of Congo!

I think you guys may have misunderstood the time zone point (or I may have explained it badly). Basically, the games will be taking place live. So an OD game will take about 5-6 hours, a T20 game about 2 hours and a day of FC about 5 hours (when the FC engine has been implemented).

It doesn't matter if you change your computer's time zone. The idea of when to start a simulation is still up for discussion. We'll have some warm-up games so hopefully that will give us an idea of when to schedule the games to start.

(3) LIVE matches -- follow matches live, with a Cricinfo-style interface that allows you to view commentary, scorecard as well as match statistics. Matches take place in near-real time meaning you can check in from different timezones to chat about a game.

Meh, its ambiguous :p

My assumption was that the game would start at different times for different people to match their time zone (or something like that).

But again, we could have different home teams have different time zones, so each game would start at a different time (which should make most people happy).

The game starts at one time, it just happens to be different times for people in different timezones. ;)

The different start times for teams is worth exploring, especially as it would decrease the load on my server. I would of course prefer that it takes place between midnight and 6pm US time so that there is no chance of me using that computer during simulation.

Ahem, you know what I meant. :p

We could do something like this (US time)

8 AM - 1 PM = 1 day of FC Cricket

9 AM - 3 PM = OD game

12 noon - 2 PM = T20 game

That covers all the time zones reasonably well. USA, UK, and Pakistan/India.

And nobody cares about the Aussies and Kiwis. :p

Oh yay I won't be awake for any of the games :sarcasm

We're not... It's the English who are far away from everyone.

Chewie added 1 Minutes and 36 Seconds later...

US West Coast time:

4 PM - 9 PM = 1 day of FC Cricket

5 PM - 11 PM = OD game

10 PM - 12 PM = T20 game

Would work better :)

I like the idea of each team having a 'home' country/ground. So then nobody could complain with it as the game times will always switch around.

We'll have grounds I'd imagine, but we're stay away from actual locations. With good reason, if we had a team in India, then it'll be full of Indian members, same with one for the English. We want a wide range of members per team.

We could always do the draft first then each team gets randomly assigned a time zone?

Why do we need randomly assigned time zones?
