Canada Strike Again In the eleventh over Gutteridge adds another 4 to the total with a pull over square leg. On the final ball of the over he tries to repeat the feat but ball bounces higher this time and hits his top edge. The ball flies high and stays in the air a long time before finally being safely taken by Surkari. Gutteridge went for unlucky 13 and Left Hander is the next man in.
Intelligent Play from the Batsmen
Captain's Knock
first half century of the tour. It's taken him 38 balls with 8 fours and 1 six and will be an important knock in deciding who will win this game. Since the field restrictions were lifted he's had to try harder to find the gaps and with his favoured mid-wicket to long-off area now guarded has had to resort to fine glances to long leg and slog sweeps over square. The job isn't over yet though and the final two overs will be all important.
Final Over Fireworks
With the score at 132 going into the final over, PCXI could do with another 10-15 runs to make this a really competitive total on this wicket. Surprisingly, Canada are choosing to bowl a spinner, Ali, at the death. hitting nothing but air as he becomes frustrated. On the fourth ball he tries again and this time is bowled spectacularly, he seems very dissapointed he couldn't see his team through to the end. Bobby Bob is next in with just 2 balls remaining in the innings. Rising to the occasion, he cracks one straight through mid-wicket for four. He attempts the same shot with the final ball but top edges it! Luckily all the fielders were back and it drops just short, allowing the batsmen to add another 2 runs to the total.
The economical bowling of Cummins and Sandher was let down by some loose figures from Maxwell and Ali, who both went for nearly 10 and over.
Well 6 runs off 2 balls for me. I think i'll get more of a chance to bat the next time I play.
Anyway, we've got an okish score but we should defend it with all of the powerful bowlers that we have.
