PlanetCricket Ashes Cricket 2009 Q&A

In one short word - No. Its the harsh truth. The 845GL is worse than the worst graphics card nVidia / AMD have produced in the last 6-8 years.

It isn't even 945G. This isn't a go at you or I'm not being trying to rude or anything, just the facts. Also 256 MB of RAM is a bit too low for even general computing nowadays, let alone modern gaming.

I understand how difficult it is to procure a better PC when being young so I understand your emotions.

I'd be very happy if Codies proved me wrong though.
Any Idea about my specs ? I m dying to know the system reqs

My specs:

Intel P4 2.66Ghz
1GB DDR2
Win XP
Geforce 8400GS 512MB

We will publish the exact system requirements when we get them. Please do not ask if it will work on your system because at this stage we don't know for sure. If you can't run BLIC 2007 you only have a tiny chance, if you can't run Cricket 07 you have none.

AU: Ashes Cricket 2009 Hands-On & Interview
Cricket legend Ricky Ponting takes us on a personal tour of the latest build.
by Eliot Fish, IGN AU

Australia, May 13, 2009 - One dark night, a number of years ago now, I was wandering alone through the Sydney CBD, keeping a watchful eye over one shoulder and a firm grip on my bag. Before I could slip through the shadows unnoticed, a group of large looking blokes materialised at the end of the street and began sauntering up the sidewalk like four cowboys strolling down the main street looking for a gun fight. Naturally, my heart started beating a little faster and I looked around for an escape route; but the moment was already upon me and not wanting to show any sign of weakness, I stuck to my fated trajectory. As I kept my head down, I heard not a chirp of friendly banter or chatter. I thought I was done like a dinner.....

and BTW Shane Warne and Ian botham are in the match commentary team as well.

Blimey that seems almost too good to be true. If the game is anywhere near as good as it sounds then i will be happy!

I always felt with 07 that there was a really good game in there, but a few small things ruined it. I just hope batsmen run their bats in now and that you can leave a ball without losing confidence......

Heres hoping

Since the code has been rewritten completely (allegedly), I am not expecting to see the batsmen constantly leg-glance the ball onto their stumps (especially when you can clearly see it go through their pads. Also, I will not buy another baseball game, got the hint devs?

Well done Matt, covered most things there, looks very good. will be buying it. hmm hoping Modding is easier than they have let on

Who knows? We might just be stuck with England v Australia as far as licences go...

Good Q+A that. I'd have liked to have known more about the batting system, more specifically if there's an option to leave the ball in this game, as there still wasn't that option, without losing confidence in the last one. Also would have liked to have known if there were more Autoplay options, like in the EA games, as opposed to just skipping 1 over or the entire innings. Only a couple of things missing though, overall I'm looking forward to this one alot, especially the fact that there's a focus on Test cricket!

It's about time! It's good that they said that Tests will feel like tests, not ODIs in white uniforms.

Hopefully, we'll also see more auto-stats and not have them permanently hidden in a menu somewhere. I am looking forwards to this one though, it does sound as though it has a lot of potential to finally take BLIC '99's crown.

anyone knows when the official trailer will be released?

edit : with the proxies also the mediafire link isn't working. if anyone uploads in rapidshare i will be thankful to them.

Does any body knows that the online gameplay will be through gamespy on Pc version or they will have their own servers or stuff.Gamespy wasnt that good on Blc 2007.

I want to know if the player editor involves being able to change people's ability. To lower their stats of the players in your team to make it harder to play if it gets too easy?

not sure if its been asked before, are there gonna be hot cheerleaders in T20 mode?:D

here is my question to them:
if I modify the game[which most of the gamers at planet cricket are going to do]like adding bats and kits will it affect my multiplayer/online gameplay?

Another question
Will the game be realesed in INdia?
If no then at least will it be released in planet m stores across the globe[inc INdia]:upray
and if it will release i INdia what will it be priced at?

thanks
dhruv

I know that some of these have been asked before but I would like to second them as I think they are very important.

- Can mistimed 'ground shots' go in the air? Not counting edges to slips/keeper!
- In what ways will the player know that they are controlling a good batsman, apart from different timing windows?
- In what ways will the player know that they are controlling a good bowler?
- What new stats have been added to the players in order to make distinguish the players? For example, BLIC 2005 used to have off-side/on-side stats for batsmen, but these were removed in 2007.
- Is there variation in bounce in the vertical as well as horizontal directions?
- In what ways have you improved the defensive aspect of batting to make it more interesting?
- Can 'ground shots' be hit at different powers, or are they always set? Ditto for lofted shots and defensive shots.

So are all these questions going to be asked to Codemasters? If not, it's just pointless.

Not all of them. Most will be answered just by waiting for the next batch of screenshots and videos to come out. We also are working on the possibility of another PC Codemasters open day like BLIC07 had, so we should have a chance to play the game again, which would help answer a lot of the queries.

Questions along the line of Tom's are likely to be asked, questions on specific features are likely not to be unless they are related to a major possible omission.

We have to balance up the stuff we need to know before you go out and buy the game and the amount of time we have, they spent quite a long time on that initial Q&A, so with hundreds of questions asked about the game, they can't possibly answer them all, and if they did, you'd still have questions.
