Hedger, Gray and Pickering Ensure A PlanetCricket Victory
Match Summary
B. Hedger and C. Gray centuries, plus a G. Pickering five wicket haul have helped the PlanetCricket County to their second straight county championship victory.
The first hour was all Yorkshire, as a 67 run opening stand looked to give them the early initiative. It did however not turn out that way as PlanetCricket fought back through G. Pickering. They snared five Yorkshire wickets for just 36 runs, before lunch. G. Ballance tried to add some respectability with the tail, edging Yorkshire up to 242 all out. G. Pickering finished with 5 for 73.
It was then Yorkshire's turn to inflict some pain as they reduced PlanetCricket to 82 for 3. There came together B. Hedger and C. Gray who batted absolutely splendidly putting on a 171 forth wicket stand, with Hedger bringing up his hundred in the process. When Hedger fell Gray continued to bat passing a hundred, then a hundred and fifty as wickets fell at the other end. He and B. Gutteridge combined fir a 71 run eight wicket stand. Helping the PlanetCricket County up to a very respectable 414, giving them a first inning lead of 172 valuable runs.
Yorkshire came out to bat, but really were just walking out from the pavilion and right back to it. They self-destructed to 70 for 8, before their last two partnerships added in excess of 50. Still falling to an innings and 37 run defeat.
C. Gray who was the architect behind the victory, was named Man of the Match for his well played 155. Complements must also go to G. Pickering, for executing the bowling part of the plan to perfection.
My View
I was very happy with that good win. The bowling unit has been working outstandingly well, probably because I have had little interruptions there with the overseas league. The batting is still a work in progress, but most players have got at least one score to their name. To be honest I'm still trying to work out the best line up.
