Planetcricket FC (FM 2006)

Yes now I am playing much better. Thanks Radaga.

Wow, those last two matches for me were great with me even scoring a goal! Woohoo! Both sqauds are strong, with the fist team having great fun against Bolton , and we hardly deserve to be called the reserve team :p ;) judging by our quality performances as a team over those games.

I have decided on the first team for the first league match. Because the reserves don't play agian for a little while some of them will be able to play as subs. There were a few people pushing for selection but there are still not many changes because no-one in the first team has played badly for me to drop them. After a few league matches that will most likely change though. Zohaib Ahmed comes back into the side after being declared fit by the physio's. Frank Skinner makes way.

First team vs Brentford:
GK: Ramesh Balaji
DL: Zohaib Ahmed
DC: Abhas Gupta
DC: Tim Macdonald
DR: Rhys Williams
ML: Steve O
MC: Tahir Hassan
MR: Jack Teague (c)
AMLC: Andrew Symonds (vc)
AMRC: Shaun Briggs
STR: Hassan Tahir (vc)
SUB 1: Phil Rogers
SUB 2: Bilal Tahir
SUB 3: Justin Allison
SUB 4: Willie Liebenberg
SUB 5: Drew Davie

GAME DATE: 6th Of August, 2005
The League Cup first round fixtures were decided and Planetcricket FC will travel to championship side, Hull City, on the 24th of August.
A few of the planetcricket players have been attracting the interest of other clubs. Andrew Symonds has been spotted by Leeds and Willie Liebenberg by Leicester. I have declined the clubs offers for the time being, but if the players would like to leave PC i have no problem in letting them go.

Brentford vs Planetcricket at Brentford
Match Odds
Brentford Win: 6-4
Planetcricket Win: 13-8
Draw: 2-1
Brentford goes in as the slightest of favourites for the match. The home advantage is the only thing seperating the teams.
Planetcricket will still be on a high after their win over Premiership side Bolton 2 weeks ago. The key men for PC are Steve O and Jack Teague, who's runs down the flank have proved match winning in previous games. However the whole side will be quite nervous as this is the first league game for all of them.

Line-Ups:

The match played out very evenly at the start. PC had their chances early on, but as per normal got the jitters in front of goal and missed several good chances.
PC's defence looked shaky, in particular the left side with Zohaib Ahmed and Abhas Gupta. After 15mins Brentford scored after Gupta read the play wrong and left his opponent in acres of space. Ahmed came in to make the tackle but he missed it and Jarvis was through on goal and made no mistake. 1-0 to Brentford.
PC switched to a more defensive style to try and relieve the defence a bit. It seemed to make a difference. Even though PC didn't score they had controlled the tempo and built up some confidence commming into the 2nd half.
Zohaib Ahmed was subbed off from fatigue and a poor first half. Drew Davie came on to make his first team debut.
PC swicthed back to an attacking style, having to score twice to win. Macdonald moved from defensive to midfield, swapping with Tahir Hassan, to give the midfield a bit more of a defensive edge.
The captaincy group really lifted their game after half time. Symonds was everywhere again. Just like last week he found his legs after half time. PC managed to hit back during the 59th minute through Steve O. A great cross from Teague to the far post managed to beat all the defenders and the keeper for Steve O to head in easily. 1-1.
Brentford mounted several good chances to regain the lead but all were either off target or shut down by Balaji.
Steve O and Shaun Briggs were quite tired so they were replace din the 64th minute by Justin Allison and Willie Liebenberg.
PC changed to a normal 4-4-2, bringing Liebenberg up alongside Tahir.
The continued pressing eventually paid off for PC in the 82nd min. A quick flick on from Macdonald set-up Tahir in space. His shot was defelcted away by the keeper but it went straight to Symonds who put it in the net. 1-2.
The game ended at 1-2 to PC.
Man of the match was Andrew Symonds.

We caught up with PC's manager Mr Radaga after the game for a few words:
How did you rate todays performance by the team?
"Probably a 5/10. Compared to the game against Bolton it was a shocker. The defence was hopeless and i am also dissapointed that there wasn't enough runs made by our forwards."

Was their anything positive to come out of the game?
"Well we still won the game. 4 points is handy, but the boys know they can play much better. I was impressed with Davie in defence. After half time we looked much sharper back there and i think that can be accredited to him. Macdonald's move into the midfield looked promising and im sure he will get more time there in the future. Allison and Liebenberg did pretty well for their first call up and Balaji, as always, was great in goal again."

Can we expect any changes for the next match?
"The defence was terrible and there is definantely going to be changes there. Davie impressed in this game and Frank Skinner is likely to be called back up. I am also keen to give Bilal Tahir a run in the first team if we can find some space for him."

Anything else to say?
"Yes. I'd just like to say that Brentford can feel hard done by. I know that we played badly and they were just unlucky not to get a few more shots fall into the back of the net. I'm expecting to see more of them come the end of the season."

Great win for us. I had a quite game. Just happy I got a chance for first team.

Blackpool vs Planetcricket at Blackpool. (9th of August)
Match Odds:
Blackpool Win: 6-4
Planetcricket: 13-8
Draw: 2-1

With Blackpool among the favourites for relegation the match odds were a bit unfair on a fired up Planetcricket side.
There were three changes to PC's side:
OUT: Zohaib Ahmed, Tahir Hassan, Abhas Gupta (defender)
IN: Frank Skinner, Nick Pringle, Left Hander
Steve O given a rest on the bench.

Line-Ups:
firstteamlineupvsblackpool2ay.jpg

The game started fairly slow with the first shot on goal comming in the 25th minute. This shot at goal was a header by Jack Teague from a cross from Tahir Hassan. This shot ended up in a goal for PC.
In the 27th minute Symonds laid a pass off to Teague, who then skipped past a defender and smashed the shot into the top left-hand corner. 2-0 for PC and 2 goals for Teague.
Before the first half was over Symonds got himself on the scoresheet after heading a corner kick from Frank Skinner into the goal.
3-0 to PC and looking to run away with the match.
PC switched to a defensive style in the second half, Macdonald pushed back into a center back position to give PC 5 defenders.
PC continued to cause trouble for Blackpool. Andrew Symonds was instrumental in midfield, he created something every time he got the ball. There were still a lack of actual shots on goal, and PC's accurate kicking proved the difference as they looked like heading to a comfortable win.
Balaji and Symonds came off for a well deserved rest and Left Hander and Phil Rogers came on.
A keeping blunder from Rogers let Blackpool score and ruin a perfect game for PC.
MOM- Andrew Symonds.
Planetcricket now moves to first on the ladder on goal difference.

Mangers thoughts:
"Impressed with the overall result of the match. Symonds continued some good form. Allison was an impressive replacement for Steve O.
Rogers was disapointing for the time he was on."

Injury Update:
Justin Allison- Suffered a strained neck and is out for between 6 days and 2 weeks.

Planetcricket vs Hartlepool at Planetcricket. (13th of August)
Match Odds:
Planetcricket Win: 6-4
Hartelepool Win: 13-8
Draw: 2-1

The first home match of the season for Planetcricket. There are some changes to the PC side:
OUT: Justin Allison (injury), Left Hander, Phil Rogers
IN: Abhas Gupta (midfield), Rhys Lowther, Tahir Hassan.
Rhys Lowther will be given a full game at GK, Balaji will rest on the bench.

Line-Ups:
firstteamlineupvshartlepool5ts.jpg

A slow tempo game, both teams were very carfeul when going forward. Steve O was refreshed after his rest last week and took on the defenders at every opportunity. The defence for both side was fairly solid. There were not many chances in the first half and it remained at 0-0 at half time. jack Teague picked up a slight injury and was cautiously subbed of. Shaun Briggs was a more than capable substitute.
The second half was most of the same. Pringle was the commander in defence and worked well with Williams and Davie.
A poor back pass by a Hartlepool defender let Tahir Hassan intercept and slot a low drive past the keeper.
Continued good defensive work from both sides strangled the strikers for opportunities. and PC ran away 1-0 winners in a tight contest.
MOM- Nick Pringle
Planetcricket remains 1st on the ladder.

Manager Comments:
"A good win, good to see Pringle play well. ist place on the ladder is very nice, and after these last 2 results i think that team expectations have risen to a promotion spot."

Great results there guys. Looks like I do better at forward lol.

wow two great performances from me and 2 goals.

The PC captain was asked last night at training a few questions.

How do you feel the season has started so far?
"well we have played great football and have a number of strong players in our team.Personaly i am looking to hit the net 15 times and have an average rating of 8.But so far very promising so looking forward to the rest of the season"

Slight Injury?
"I picked up a small knock against Hartlepool but should be fit again for our next match."
What are your thoughts on RADAGA's managing?
"I believe he is a very good manager that likes to let us have fun in training as well as be more serious before matches.I believe he will be a great manager to come and could even manage a top flight team."

In the chances I've had I have generally performed well for the first team, hopefully my injury wont hamper me too much for the time being so that im in tip top shape once fit and earn a spot somewhere in the first team line-up.

Thanks for putting me in the first team subs! I really really appreciate it. (Especially with me being a late registration)

BTW why isn't the reserve team playing now?
