Player Discussion

Find my Fawad Alam record, somewhere in this thread. I dominated with him. I still remember that, and remember letting him keep for a game when my normal keeper was injured :p

Who said opening the bowling with spinners didn't work :spy

Brian Snow just took 6/42 off 7 overs as I bowled out Netherlands for 95 in 14.2 overs, Jerome Taylor playing his first game of the season (Reserve player as Southee was on INT duty), taking 3/32 as well.

Stafford finally found his OD form with 123 off 71 in that game after scoring 86 in his previous OD match. His OD career SR is 117.41 :D

Stuart Goodwin was my only youth player that was promoted for the T20s this season but he is absolutely gun. Had a 2nd team batting average of close to 80, scores 231 in his final 2nd team game, then I play him in the T20s which I skipped so he didn't do much but comes out for the One Day format and scores 129* on debut. Then makes 36 and 67 in his first FC game before supporting Stafford in this game again with 76. He is definately my new #3 OD batsman.

So now in the two OD games they've played together, Stafford and Goodwin have already scored 341 runs while both have been at the crease (177 run and 164 run partnerships). So my awesome team looks like this:

1. Daryl Mitchell
2. Still need to find another opener, as Norris and Moore get out of form too easily. Norris is averaging 37.87 this season in 7 FC matches but has only managed 1 century and 1 half century.
3. Stuart Goodwin
4. Julian Stafford
5. Garry Park
6. Stuart Adler+ (Tim Ambrose when Adler is on INT duty)
7. David Wheeldon - He is actually pretty gun, averaging 31.57 with the bat in FC and 29.46 with the ball (24 wickets) and 54.67 with the bat in OD (3 NOs in 6 innings though with a top score of 50*) and 27.71 with the ball so he is pretty awesome.
8. Brian Snow - Awesome spinner
9. Jonathan Clare - Still yet to do anything with the bat but is a very good bowler
10. Christopher Pears - Best young bowler in the game and finally got called up to the English squad but didn't play
11. International Bowler (Currently Southee/Taylor)

So FC/OD career averages for my team:

1. Mitchell - 44.24/37.3
2. Norris - 45.22/23.64
3. Goodwin - Only 3 matches for the club
4. Stafford - 47.92/64.58
5. Park - 47.57 (Averaging 60+ for my team though)/31.15
6. Adler - 69.54/35.28
7. Wheeldon - Batting: 31.83/22.46, Bowling: 41.31/31.6
8. Snow - Batting: 19.64/13.05, Bowling: 29.36/18.91
9. Clare - Batting: 31.7/13.4, Bowling: 27.54/32.36
10. Pears - Batting: 14.52/10.45, Bowling: 27.97/16.92
11. Varies :p

And I still have heaps of backup. Choudhry (averaging 52 in FC), Kervezee (Pretty awesome ;) ), Blundell (21 yo averaging 48 in FC), and Rankin, Arif and Griffiths with the ball.

It's cos you scored so much they attacked from the start :p

Yeah, but still :p

Well Southee gets smashed for 10 runs an over without taking a wicket when I'm defending a huge total so who knows. It could be the spinner opening the bowling.

Yes, I went there :p

I've now got two players out injured in addition to the above. Fortunately it's my first year in the save and I've got a huge squad. Nevertheless, it means I'm picking some pretty iffy characters (I've had to promote Mark Hardinges - who this year irl played for the Unicorns - to the post of T20 skipper). Hopefully they'll repay my desperation...er, I mean, my faith in them.:rolleyes

I'm now a couple of months into 2010 in this save (ICC09, Essex). Still got Mark Hardinges - he's a regular in both limited overs formats. Picked as a batsman, he has been our second top wicket taker in the Challenge Trophy so far (after the quarters) with 17 at 11.65! Hardly discard material!

This guy is going to be an absolute gun. Yet to fail in an innings apart from T20.

I haven't been taking the captaincy which is why they don't have more games.

Wheeldon has just played his 50th FC match and passed 2000 runs and 100 wickets. Been awesome this season:

13 FC matches, 538 runs @ 41.38, 41 wickets @ 31.88
12 OD matches, 248 runs @ 41.33, SR 84.91, 14 wickets @ 32.07
16 T20 matches, 209 runs @ 29.86, SR 114.18, 14 wickets @ 35.56

You got to feel sorry for Daryl Mitchell. Hasn't scored a One Day century in over 3 years and in the Challenge Trophy, plays a blinder of a knock, finishing 98 not out as we won by 6 wickets, and with 15 runs to win, he was on 96* but Adler scored a couple of boundaries to take the century away from him. Still, an unbelievable performance. The only thing he did wrong, was run out Godwin.

Finally! Scott Newman's longstanding record of Most runs in a season (1871) which he had set in the 2008 season has been eclipsed....after 36 seasons. Yes, in my 2044 season Indian opener D.Singh finished with 1954 runs to erase that record. :clap :clap

I am in my 2048 season as Surrey.

Sometimes I wonder why they keep these players without giving them a chance. Here is one player in the Worcs team - Keith Henley. Season after season, I see him in their team & even at 34, he hasn't made his debut. :rolleyes

Looks like he might retire without making his debut. :p

It a living :p

Here's his second team stats. Except for his batting & bowling avg...nothing else is realistic :rolleyes..... 10142 runs & 1584 wkts in 23 matches....:lol
