Alright, so now it's revealed. What's your views on it?

Except for PC gamers who already know the potential for current gen gaming, how does it feel to finally play a game with next-gen graphics on PlayStation?

PS: Don't know whether it belongs in this forum or Technology, so mods feel free to do it.

The launch featured a lot of waffle, no console, no price and no release date. Left guessing that it will be around ?300 and a Christmas release. I imagine these details will be given at E3 in June, when we should also see the new Xbox.

Watch Dogs was the highlight for me. That game is right up my street and looks amazing.

The features really need to up with the ones because mainly when PS3 released it almost had all the features that the 360 had . When the 720 releases PS4's features should be mind blowing for the cash to flow back . BTW is it invincible ?

Here an image :)

Don't think it's invincible... that would be quite some feat :p

Ps3 already seems like they've outspecced the Durango. Things can change between now and production of course, but they seem to have got the technological leap on Microsoft for this gen.

Seems like Microsoft are going down the Kinect and social integration sides as their main focus, whilst Sony are sticking ever so slightly more to the gaming console side of being, well, a gaming console.

How long before your smart phone links up with your tele anyway and is the remote/controller for games on it?

About 6 months :p

The phone gaming market is huge now. It's potential player base is bigger than the Vita and 3DS combined I believe. It is still however a portable gaming option more than a sit-down and play. A few of the newer gaming phones offer the potential to plug in controllers thus removing the inherent problems of touch screen controls for serious games.

Still tempted to skip the beginning of the next generation of consoles and just build myself a nice new gaming PC for not much more money but with far better specs.

Then just get a Ps3 a few years down the line when the library of games has reached decent levels. Once you've got a gaming PC, everything is so much cheaper than a console.

I never buy new console at release. Always wait for at least first updated model that fixes issues/gltiches etc with OEM release

The main thing I want to see from the PS4 is a vastly increased ability for AI - specifically for games like Fifa. Attacking AI is coming along nicely, but the defences and midfields do not have a clue. Maybe the PC is already capable of that, maybe not but without the consoles being capable as well, it doesn't matter.

I guess Fifa 14 will be the last Fifa of this 'gen' then - if they're just going to copy/paste the graphics again, I'd much rather they just roll out a decent DLC rather than a whole new game.

They usually keep making FIFA long after the console is replaced. FIFA 05 was one of the last PSOne games, 4 years after the PS2, and there's still new PS2 games being made 7 years after the PS3 launch. You'll be able to keep paying EA every year for a while yet.

I know that - what I meant was Fifa 14 will be the last Fifa of this 'gen', before the new gen. consoles come. I know they'll keep making Fifa for the PS3 etc. I won't be buying any recycled PS3 Fifa clones though - unless the PC continues to get the same version as the new consoles, then EA can whistle for it. ;)

I'm looking forward to seeing how well the cloud gaming (Gaikai) is implemented, I feel there's real potential in this area - UK broadband isn't the best though!

The PS4 will probably start at around $400 but the thing is that recently I checked on amazon for Watch Dogs (PS4) the pricing for it is $100.

PS2 Games: $40
PS3: $60
PS4: $100??
