Poetry, i guess

Wrote a bit in in Urdu

Dil ki gehraayi mein jo yaad basaayi thi
Jis mohabbat ne yeh murda rooh jagaayi thi
Woh yaad hi dil ko khaaney lagi
Uss mohabbat ne bas lahoo mein zehr milaayi thi

- Talha

The memories inhabiting the depths of my heart
The love that awoke this corpse-like soul of mine
Those memories began devouring my heart
That love had only been poison to my blood

Tann-o-rooh ki judaai sahi
Dil mein tanhaai sahi
Har dam palkhon taley ansoo ke bawajood
Zubaan pe hamdam ki ruba'ii sahi

- Talha

Let body and spirit be far apart
Let loneliness reign in this heart
Despite every breath bringing a tear with it
Let the tongue recite for the beloved’s praise, four parts

"Hamdam" is a word originated from Persian, meaning "intimate companion", and if literally translated, "the one who breathes with you".
"Ruba'ii" is a form of poetry consisting of 4 stanzas, or 4 parts.

To summarise :
Body and spirit are disconnected, the heart is lonely, the eyes are teary, yet, the tongue is reciting praises of the perpetrator of this ordeal.

These gloomy nights are lonely,
with nobody to talk to,
with little to look forward to,
the hopelessness is unquantifiable,
words galore in the heart, yet silence is preferred,
lots to stay, yet you refuse to,
the beginning of maturity,
covering yourself in graceful silence,
avoiding regretful remarks,
letting the hate enchant,
allowing regret to take over
the air is no longer eternal,

The days are numbered,
so I should be unencumbered,
free to chart my own path,
as in endless skies a falcon,
and yet here i am,
in a cage made of glass,
prisoner of my own breaths,
forced to watch on,
as life festers in me,
until i am forced to drown in its poison.

I used to write small snippets/write ups about some topic few years back. At times even used rhyme theme within the write up. Here is one such,

Dil mein mere hai
Dard-e-disco, dard-e-disco
Dil mein mere hai dard-e-disco
Dard-e-disco, dard-e-disco
Dil mein mere hai dard-e-disco
Dard-e-disco, dard-e-disco Dil mein mere hai dard-e-disco
Dard-e-disco.. dard-e-disco..

Boy you make me crazy
Crazy with your loving hand
When you touch me I'm in ecstasy
Wanna hug me, thrill me
I'll be up forever and
Baby you and I were meant to be

Talking over coffee,
on a gloomy morning,
savouring every sip, and every word,
time felt blurred.
A best friend,
warmth in a day cold,
smiles of joy,
a heart of gold.

A very much sometimes-rhyming free-word poem based on word and thought association from me. Written somewhere in 2010 or so.

Cold.
Tired.
Lonely.
I want to be empty.
My insides need to be exposed to the air.
My dinner is about to come out again.
Down…then up.

The dizzying heights that tower inside my mind sicken me to the pit of my stomach.

The pit…the pit of despair.
The heights are a despairing pit.
Complexity in simplicity.

Flowers…dark and blue.
Shining through.
You It’s all you.

My eyes…my eyes.
They bleed rivers of blood.
My life fluid draining down my face.
He once cried tears of blood.
The agony in the garden.
Death is close at hand.
The news say so.

The waves of nausea.

It’s the smoke.
That cursed smoke that kills me so.
Bringing myself into a state of the outer body.
Set free to roam the world outside.
So young…still so young.
No life experiences yet.
Sheltered, confused, too-tweaking-naïve.
It shows constantly.

It works.
It works.
They were right.
Push your fingers into your eyes.
Step through the windows to the soul.
See the darkness within.
That tiny candle.
The hope of many.
Don’t blow it out.
Let it light.
Let it burn.
Raging inferno.
That glint of fire burning inside.
Shines through his eyes.
Unnerving to look at.
Piercing holes through it all.
Rise just to fall.
Losing it all.
Clutching to the ball.

Sending hopes to the masses.
The masses of mindless beings.
Let them eat cake, she said.
I say let them work for it.

Revolution.
Destruction.
Confusion.
Delusion.
Mass media distraction.

Pandemic.
Worldwide.
The voice of one.
.
He had a dream.
Rings around the world.
Stop revolving.
For you?

Never.

Neither for me.
The sun will rise tomorrow.
It will set just the same.
Set forth to make the new day one to behold.
Live like I should.
O grave where is thy victory?
O death where is thy sting?
It does not sting.
Not you.
Those you leave behind feel the impact.
Let us pray.

Amen.

Never changing.
Everlasting.

Fight.

Or die.

Vote.
Or die.
Live… …or die.

The choice is mine.
Not yours.
I choose life.
You wish death.
Then let me be stung.
Oh, it stings so bad.
Hurts.
The flame…is out.
With laughter and mirth you extinguished the hope of many.

Never again will there be an inferno lying through that window.
Thy sting is felt by those left behind.
Side by side.
Ashes to ashes.
Dust to dust.
We wish thee eternal life.
But hell is an eternity too.
Who goes to heaven?
All dogs do.
So they say.
I miss mine.
Maybe I’ll meet them.
Hope they remember me.

I’ll be there shortly.
Just held up while I wait for the flight.
Oh…haven’t decided how I’ll go.
I think I’ll wait.
The bus of ancient age will come sometime.
When it’s ready.
Because I'm not going away soon.
O, cruel world.
Send thyself away.

Let there be peace.
Never, they say.
Then let freedom reign.
Neither.
Nay… I say… Nay.

Let me reign.
Over this life of mine.
And this life of thine.
This life that is fine.

Never being away from what is dear to me.
Never being away from them that I hold close.
You're never going to go away.
So I shall tell you...nay. Again will I say...nay.

Another one that I always freestyled after the first verse back in the day, titled, "Smile"

Does he return his smile to her?
Does he smile back undeterred?
Is he a part of her life?
Or does she try to screw his mind?

Does it hurt to be insane?
Or can he cope with all the pain? (freestyle from hereon in)
Will she love him constantly?
Will she let him be free?

Should she accept all his mess?
Should she take on all his stress?
Will she be there for him?
Or will she see it as a fling?

Is she strong enough to know?
The levels he can go?
Does she see him as hers?
Will she see her as coming first?

In his life she is all
She will catch him if he falls
Does he see what she does?
Does he make a lot of fuss?

She sees him as her best
Even though he is a test
She will forever be with that man
She will be his biggest fan

He can't help but smile
He can't stop it for a while
She will smile back in return
She will know she's earned

That he returned his smile to her
That he's smiled back forever
And they'll live a life
She'll be his wife

These are really nice.

Thanks @Parth D and @CerealKiller . The first one was really written off of a pure word and thought association from me, nothing HAD to rhyme or even make sense so that's why it didn't. The second was, I sort of was in that stage between asleep and awake and I got the first few lines and I just kept rolling with it everytime my life changed. It's sort of a song to me, it has a cadence and a beat of itself.

But some of these guys on this thread, you guys are awesome!

There is zero stigma about men stating their feelings via poetry.

EDIT: Not going to say anything about the pandemic, that was just an early 20s(age-wise) angst-filled me using big words, lol.

Not exactly poetry but a song from My Name is Khan movie.

...
Ajnabi mod hai,
Khauf har oar hai,
Har nazar pe dhuan chhaa gaya.
Pal bhar mein jaane kya ho gaya.

Aasman zard hai,
Aahein bhi sard hain.
Tann se saya juda ho gaya.
Pal bhar mein jaane kya kho gaya.

Saans ruk si gayi, jism chhil sa gaya.
Toote khwabon ke manzar pe tera jahaan chal diya.

Noor-e-Khuda,
Noor-e-Khuda
Tu kahan chhupa hai hamein yeh bata

Noor-e-Khuda,
Noor-e-Khuda
Yun na hamse nazrein phira

Noor-e-Khuda,
Noor-e-Khuda,
Tu kahan chhupa hai hamein yeh bata.

Noor-e-Khuda,
Noor-e-Khuda,
Yun na hamse nazrein phira.
