Politics Discussion (India)

I have given up. I don't think my opinion matters anymore among 1.3 Billion voices. Opposition is finished, Govt. institutions are hijacked & criticisms are sabotaged through money power and dumb media. Shouting on social media only worsen things such as relationships with people close to us. And these politician are only enemies in the politics but not in real world.

Again I repeat, BJP is not an issue here. But their actions and results out of that actions is the real problem. One thing I can be certain is that one day, in future, people will understand. It will take time, but they will understand. :)

Ironically, India seems to be going in Pakistan's direction, in a way. In Pakistan, it’s the jingoistic, anti-minority army that dictates everything, manipulating Parliament, the judiciary and religious clerics, without any limits, legal or political, on their power, and everyone either falling in line or being termed a traitor (ghaddar), and in India it’s the jingoistic, anti-minority governing party.
The difference is that India had a more liberal government (relatively speaking) that globalised the economy and transformed it into a regional, if not yet global, quasi-superpower, and the judiciary is more independent.

Hahaha - loving the over reaction from our government to a couple of tweets by Rihanna and Greta. Just goes on to show how paranoid this government is when it comes to maintaining their image. And their favorite sons and daughters - Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Suniel Shetty, Ekta Kapoor have jumped on the bandwagon to support them and asking the citizens to ignore the words of international celebrities because no outsider has the right to comment on our 'internal affairs'.

Its the Perfect combination of hypocrisy and paranoia:
  • Rihanna and Greta are now anti-state voices funded by foreign elements to dismantle our republic
    BUT
  • US govt commenting and supporting the farm laws next day is acceptable and admirable

  • Foreign media criticizing the government on farmer protests and CAA is anti-India
    BUT
  • Same media praising government's initiatives of COVID/Vaccine response if a proud moment for this country and its atma-nirbharta
Comedy circus going on

When will people (bhakts) wake up and see where this country is headed - GOVT openly threatening a private enterprise with censorship is just another LOW for our democracy.

What I'm assuming is that Congress recently launched a mega recruitment drive of hiring 500,000 people to take on BJP IT cell. And now a days there has been a lot of hastags in twitter that reflects opposition to the govt and their actions.

Govt. asked Twitter to disable around 1200 accounts (most of them being anti-govt), after a lot of criticisms and opposition based on freedom of speech, and Rihanna & Greta supporting farmers, twitter restored these accounts. Hence govt launched the KOO app for Indian users. And maybe now they will even ban Twitter and since the KOO will be fully controlled by govt, anti govt voice will further be suppressed.

'Ab China door nahin' [Now China is not far]

They have Renren for Facebook, Weibo for Twitter and Youku for Youtube - the platform trio for govt propaganda :D :D

Saw a bit about the farmers protest last week on Twitch.

Really worrying if introducing their own social media platforms. Not that the US based on are perfect just look at the spread of misinformation that's had really troubling consequences or literal genocide in Myanmar. Internet literacy and basic critical thinking is a huge problem and government control of these kind of platforms is a way to exploit that and control it.

Is there any unbiased Hindi news channel in India?

I fear soon the protests will get violent with obviously farmers taking the blame when they will just defend themselves.

Next step in censorship - get ready for more arrests over trivial social media posts

  • Bars content that is defamatory, obscene, libelous, racist, harmful to minors, threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India and its ties with other countries

Sounds like the kind of rules they have in China.

Was reading up more on these rules and came across this really disturbing portal from GOI. Essentially encouraging people to spy on each other and report untoward social media activity by becoming cyber crime volunteers. The categories for reporting are as vague as the term anti national

I hate using the F-word lightly, but this might eventually end up being similar to Fascist China's social credit system which asses how trustworthy and loyal a citizen based on monitoring of your online as well as physical presence in the country i.e. reporting unlawful activities and people with anti govt sentiments gets you social credit points
