Interesting you bring up this point, considering the ridiculous hooplah being made around the nepotism debate in Bollywood currently. Politics has to be one of the worst profession plagued by nepotism, but as usual the media has geared its guns on the softer, meeker target of entertainment industry. You can remove the Gandhi clan and still you would find umpteen examples of nepotism across all political parties, not just in congress. Thackeray, Yadav, Fadnavis, etc etc. And then we have hundreds of indirect posts like our very own Jay Shah
Believe it or not, Nepotism is also widespread among lawyers and doctors who do private practice, esp fields like Dentistry etc. While the usual law and mbbs degree pass-outs will struggle to get a basic job that will help them run a family, you have kids of doctors/lawyers practicing under their parents/in-laws/etc. to get a massive leg up. In all of this though, I feel while the "nepo kids" get a quick-start in the profession, eventually talent catches up with them - eventually you will have to diagnose a patient or fight a case or carry a movie on your own, and thats where your lack of talent will betray you. Nepotism is an issue, but it balances out in the end.
What do you guys think about the whole nepotism debate going on right now ?
