Pomersbach charged with assault after chase through dunes

You can be gaoled for driving offences, but not without standing before the magistrate. Losing your license in WA is very much like prison, though.

Haha shut up Angy. :p

Its not that bad over here by the way.

Mistake, this is hardly a mistake. I would consider drink driving a mistake but what Pomersbach did is far worse. I agree that he shouldn't go to jail, but he should get some sort of big punishment.
zMario is talking about DUI, and I don't think jail time is just for a first time offender.

Oh, Gotcha. But for the record do you think Pommas should get jail time for this or are you again meaning just a DUI.

I was only referring to the DUI, assaulting a police officer is obviously a very serious offence and I certainly think jail time would be on the cards for anyone else, but the WACA and CA will probably vouch for him and he'll get probation. I don't really want him to get jail time because if he does we may never get those quiz answers :p

if he is found guilty of assaulting a police officer he will get jail time, and it won't be in months it will be in years unless australia's legal system is massively different from everywhere else in the world.

It won't be years.

And it wasn't really that bad of an assault. He was resisting arrest and bumped a cop into a window which smashed -no punches or anything.

Fined $3560, lost license for 6 months, plus $2000 damage to the skip. It also means his insurance can't cover the $20,000 damage to his Landcruiser. WACA and sponsors have not announced any decisions.

WACA probably will stick by him, it seems to be his first serious offense and I've seen other clubs stick by a player doing a lot worse.

So nothing to bad then, I thought he would of got community service at least.

I'm guessing you would mean other sports clubs, such as league?

Can't remember too many cricketers that have gotten into this sort of trouble.

Oh forgot Pomersbach was stood down 2 seasons ago for alcohol abuse and then again last season for missing a club game.

WACA have suspended Pomersbach until Jan 1st 2010 and he can only play if he meets their requirements.

That's a good decision. If they're still in with a chance of a final he can come back.
