i can't believe the reputation thread got shut down when were all having a good TUG, and this is still going strong.

There is, of course, plenty of Norse gods to go round... Feel free to find your own material. Imitation, flattery etc. Ramalama?

They work as a one unit right? They have to know what is going with the publishing department as well. They aren't living in a hole where they have no clue what is going on with their product after it has been developed.

You sir should shut the fish up. Once a product is developed for a publisher, it is upto the publisher whatever they want to do with the product. If they want they can shit on it, if they want they can release. It the developer has no right to tell the publisher when to release it or leak out any information without the consent of the publisher. In short a developer is a publisher's b**h.

I don't think it's unreasonable to have a thread asking why the marketing is different from most games we've seen but we should also remember that the community engagement has been different from most games (and clearly for the better).
Clearly short sharp campaigns are thought to get better bang for buck and we can't really analyse the success of that policy until the game has been released.

my two cents on the thread would be people should hold off attacking anyone questioning the marketing campaign just on grounds that the marketing department must know best. if this game is marketed badly it will not be the first nor the last product ever to have been subject to a botched marketing campaign. marketing departments screw up, it happens all the time.

I suppose from my point of view is I can't undertsand why the marketing campaign needs to involve keeping the release date under wraps. a short marketing campaign is fine, but a short time period between the announcement of the release date and the release date doesn't seem particularly necessary and does seem to be damaging confidence in the game.
