Poor Marketing/Release on PS4/xbox1?

yeah, I know, but some would surely be better than none. fact is, I post here and thus have way more information than most people and I'll be honest and say I'm not really positive the game is ever coming out and I am extremely sceptical it will be out march.

now, people can shout me down for being an idiot if they want, but that's how I'm interpretting what's happening, the run up to a game should be about making people excited, not leaving their hopes dangling by a thread. announcing a release date in the next few days would sure prove me wrong but I shouldn't need to be proved wrong about a game I am a target market for.

Now i think the topic is getting diverted from "Marketing could be better Ross so the game could sell well " to "Marketing hasnt started yet so the game is not releasing".
That's your personal choice, as for me there are the premiere videos, CA nets all indicate that the game exists and definitely playable, regardless of whatever marketing strategy they follow.Ross has been pretty upfront in these regards.
Even if the game gets pushed back a month i wouldn't be too bothered.

Also regarding marketing not many major Video game sites are enthu on cricket video games i guess, i remember reading somewhere that IGN have interviewed Bigant but haven't published it.

Most Small and medium budget games gain popularity after release through user reviews, word of mouth and trend better after release thus getting free and better marketing based on the product quality and appeal to the target audience.

So i guess it isnt ideal for a med size publisher and dev to mass market over a period of time.If the game is good, it will reach the common folks into cricket and videogames near and after release. To them it will be like 'ok cool now we have a great Cricket game on our hands' and not all the stuff that has been going on since AC13 release.

Lol. You guys are the idiots. This game wont even sell more than at maximum 5, 000 copies. The game is under marketed with a ridiculous high price and the game isn't even that great. Just look at the game itself, Physics look like robots and the pace of the gameplay is really slow and crappy. IC2010 had better physics than this gane tbh. Surely it will be better than the Ashes 2013 crap but I have high hopes for this game so we'll see how it goes

aren't you contradicting yourself.
You guys are the idiots.
seriously you call others Idiot for having difference of opinion over the release of a video game lol

Contradicting yourself again, also making baseless assumptions.

Wow, I thought you couldn't come out with more ludicrous BS but well done you have!!!!

Were you deprived of attention as a child or something?

You're talking utter rubbish!

Keep contradicting yourself you idiot.

I wouldn't be surprised if that happens. As a cricket gaming fan it has happened quite a few times to us and one more instance wouldn't be that shocking. IMO they may very well push the game out to "Summer 2014" (read October or later) and have the game out on current gen consoles (PS4 & Xbone) in order to target the World Cup. At this time I take any information about cricket games with a bagful of salt and unless the game actually releases we can't really read too much into the announcements.

You sir should shut the fish up. Once a product is developed for a publisher, it is upto the publisher whatever they want to do with the product. If they want they can shit on it, if they want they can release. It the developer has no right to tell the publisher when to release it or leak out any information without the consent of the publisher. In short a developer is a publisher's b**h.

You sir have been living under a rock so it is you who need to shut the fish up. Either you might be ridiculously stupid or something is there that I don't understand because the developer has all the rights to know why their product isn't progressing at the publishing stage. Do you have any idea about the relationship between the two departments or you are just trying to make yourself look smart?

"As with book publishers or publishers of DVD movies, video game publishers are responsible for their product's manufacturing and marketing, including market research and all aspects of advertising."
Video game publisher - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So you are saying that BigAnt don't care if their product isn't being advertised as it should have been then they don't give a crap? If that is your mentality then you sir, are an idiot. If I have developed a product, like BigAnt did, and I give responsibility of my product's sales to an advertising company, which is doing very very poorly at the moment, then I would be sh!tting in my pants by now!

So instead of blindly supporting the majority, have the guts to stand up for what is right.

Hi atmega, Bigant are getting their game published by TruBlu a with whom publisher they have worked before many times, also a longstanding company that has been publishing and marketing games from 1999.
Their way of marketing is a bit different to mainstream companies which they justify with regards to their marketing budget.
check their twitter you will see how they go about their games

Standup for what ? what do you think Bigant owes to us? what do you want to do?

WTF is going on here, i have been gone 2 weeks and i come in here to read from certain people that the game might be delayed again. Say it isnt true.:noway

it's purely speculation.

I guess this is what happens when nothing has been said for a few days, people get bored and make up stuff.

Ross didn't have to tell us anything on here about the game at all but he did, be grateful for that.

I raised the question on marketing before the release of Ashes 2013 and Chief said that I know nothing about Australia's market as I am from Pakistan. It clearly means that they have targetted a specific audience. So what if I am from Pakistan? The game will be released worldwide so why they are not working on the potential area? Both Ashes 2013 and DBC14 failed to market the product.
(Btw Chief! I do business with Aussies fyi) :thumbs

I don't want to do anything. The reason I said that is that first of all, this thread was probably started to seek opinions of people whether they think BigAnt have been rough about their publishing strategy as we are in the month when the game is suppose to release and we have no release date yet. But from the original point of the thread, it has shifted towards attacking the person who started the thread. It could have been that you listen to what he had to say and instead of insulting him, give your opinion and move on. But that was not what I read in the first 6 pages.

No. The thread started because someone was too lazy to find out if there was going to be a PS4/XB1 version or not. Then they tried to make up statistics in an attempt to hide how horribly misinformed they are, just like you.

You don't know what you're talking about

I think though a lot of people here are right to challenge the perception that ashes 13 would have really effected marketing as much as has been claimed. the example is not exact but if you take the football manager series for example.

Have you actually read anything? Ashes 13 had a huge affect on DBC14. I'm not talking about the fact that cricket games have a reputation of always being bad and Ashes 13 was the worst game of all time. Thus reinforcing this perception.

Nor am I talking about putting a licensed game head to head against an unlicensed game in a small selling market. I would imagine the sales figures for football manager games are way higher.

While these points are relevant. The biggest issue comes from the fact that some key distributors refused to sell DBC14 because they already were going to sell AC13. They didn't want two cricket games and they were AC13 supporters and effectively told Ross and his guys to bugger off with their cricket game. Then AC13 was awful, and those same people looked like fools and it make them hesitant to sell another cricket game as they have already been screwed around.

If the right people aren't willing to sell your game, then this makes it hard to release the game.
