Please can we get incredibly strict about the quality of posting, its getting to an abysmal state and has now infected the cricket disscussion to such a point its starting to discourage me from posting as I know some Indian Sachin fan boy will simply say "SACHIN IS GOD" "ICC ARE ANTI-INDIAN WITH THEIR LIST MAKING" ect obviously there are plenty of good Indian members but the few ruin it for everyone.

I feel that there should be a little give but I think people who post things like this http://www.planetcricket.org/forums/cricket-discussion/best-batsmen-next-decade-49805-9.html#post1315570 should be banned straight away as its starting to get out of hand.

You gotta give them a chance to grow up. However, with some members (one of them being that guy who wrote a very long post in there) they are inherently bad posters and have been banned before. Those are not the sort of members we want. Remember though there are people like Neo95 and Amiya Shreyas who do contribute and shouldn't have their voices drowned out by some of the idiots.

Needless to say it is still bloody annoying seeing some of those posts. At least Precamb is just playing dumb

After speaking to my lawyer (ahem Mr left arm pace bowler who loves cider ) By me naming two names that does no mean that there are other members who impress me and imo post well, those were the first two that came to mind. There are plenty of others as well

Thing is, I agree with giving people a chance BUT sometimes its obvious that some members can't be helped.

I agree on maybe something a little more stricter, I agree with giving people a chance. There needs to be a line set,

I'm more of a lurker instead of a poster around the Cricket chat section, but that is absolutly shocking. I never really saw this place when It was "good" but with members like that PC is going in a downward Spiral, and fast too. Changes need to be made, IMO.

But it's not only cricket Chat that has been going down, it's starting to seep into the story forum too. Not the stories themselves of course because there are some damn fine stories people like Jazz, Blue and Tom put a lot of effort and there time into, that are being spammed with replies like

Nice Update Kutgw

and something needs to be done about that.

It's simple to see just by looking at the two most popular stories on the Forum currently. Tom's and Jazz's.

If you are actually reading my updates just to prove to me that you are, mention something about possible selection for the England team

In the 8 replies between Tom's update and the time he pointed out the part in his update, Only two people(Treva and Myself) had actually mentioned the Selection for England. This was generally the other comments

Then Jazz did the same thing which out of 5 replies, only myself actually mentioned it. I mean, we all like comments and popularity on our stories. But can't people actually read the updates.

I'm sure both these things have been mentioned, I just figured I'd chuck my support behind it, So yeah..

Well the obvious responses are the usual ones, some posts are horrid, but mods can't read every thread, so help us out and hit the report button.

My biggest suggestion here is simple, don't feed the trolls. Just ignore people who post rubbish and don't get dragged into petty arguments with people who don't acknowledge reasoned argument.

As for stories, I've never understood them, but the writers of many seem to thrive on any comment, even if it could have been chucked in any thread in the forum and no one would be the wiser. Not ideal, but cracking down on it too hard could discourage some story writers.

Yeah it is annoying that people don't read your stories and they just post "Nice update KUTGW." but what can you do? The members who do read it, are well respected members (Tom, James, Trev etc). It shows if you read it or not. But I'm not that bothered though as I just like to write.

I know I do it at times as well but there's no point in just having a go at members who spam. Just talk to them and reason with them and hopefully they'll change. When I started off forums I was more of an ass than Precambrian but now I think I'm a respected member.

Here, Post Thanks and Post Groan mods can help. People can thank a post if they feel it of high quality or can groan if they feel that the posting quality is really matching with spammer's posting quality.

This may promote users to improve their posting quality. I myself think that a good post should contain relevant content only and nothing else.

I think people know how to make a good post. You don't need to groan (I am disturbed by people groaning away) or whatever.

Anyway. Mani your still an ass, you have't progressed past that stage yet And Jaz is not respected, you know he is work experience mod
