He bowled it because he's listed as fast bowler and the sim prefers fast bowlers to fast mediums when opening the bowling. Which begs the question, what kind of batting all-rounder is a fast bowler, also?

The choice is upto him! But I'd say the sim should prefer bowling ability more than just the bowler type. You don't always put out the fastest bowlers out there!

Well I obviously didn't think about it because I didn't think of the situation where someone would be a fast bowler without being a specialist.

I've made some tweaks to the bowler selection algorithm such that a specialist is prioritized to open the bowling and so that death bowlers are brought on as early as possible if necessary (in the 13th/14th over).
