Puddle Mafia 03 - Endgame

Ok, Zim's looking at this thread, fancy subbing in for Mark?

----------

Also, technically we're going to night now, but I'm gonna send some messages out to people who've played before and see if they fancy subbing in for Mark. We'll stay at day until tomorrow/a majority vote and then go to night if I can replace someone.

Pallu, I have a feeling you will need replacing as well. However, will give it a night and day phase again first. You can message me privately for help, in the meantime go and read the basic gameplay rules at Quick Guide to Mafia - MafiaWiki

With 11 alive, it takes 6 to lynch. There are 24 hours left in the day.

Yeah bit hard to pick up on people's scumminess when we're 2 players short. Still think we should lynch the 3rd party, if only to deter people from claiming it on Day 1 in future and almost guaranteeing a townie is targeted at night. It would be a strange move for a mafia make, but I wouldn't rule it out for SK trying to get investigated early when not performing a kill. We'll just have to rely on the write-ups then if no one else wants to pull the trigger on it.

I'd lynch User2010 tomorrow if we don't have anything to go on, because survivors can be potentially dangerous later in the game, I believe.

The way I see it, which is probably the way everyone is seeing it, is that he's going with the assumption we are without a cop, with maybe only a tracker at best. So if he lays low for a few nights, waits until he's tracked and cleared, then jumps into action.

I say we go for it today, worst case scenario we lose a survivor, who isn't playing in our favour, best case the SK is gone, maybe even a mafia?

I firmly believe a Survivor has to be pro-town, atleast in the initial stages of the game. It is only if there is a situation where a single vote can turn a game around can a survivor really change his allegiance.

Rivalries aside, User, if saying the truth about his role can be an asset to us, especially with his gameplay. On the other hand, if we can confirm anything doubtful about him, I'd be the first to lynch him.

In a small game, I reckon mislynching on the first day can be very harmful, as could be people revealing their roles so quickly.

Just a note, Colin's been particularly quiet, for his standards.

If by "quiet by my standards" you mean "most posts of any player in the game" then yes I'd have to agree :rolleyes

I'm actually coming round to sedition's POV. We have to kill User at some point before endgame where he could tip the balance towards mafia and if we don't do it now we might have to do it in a day phase later and let a mafia survive. One of the two times I've ever been lynched in mafia games was as a third party where I was pro-town but got taken out anyway cos I wasn't "town-aligned". Hard role to play and I agree that User is generally useful for the town with his analysis but in this case I think claiming was fail play and he deserves to get lynched.

Wow, I think that's the most random thing I have heard. Why would a SK claim on day 1? And, that too claim a survivor? Especially when there can be one in a game..

Claiming was fail play? Really? Normally, people go after someone if he claims later when there is pressure on him to do so given some reason. So, I thought it was best to play an open game and actually let people know I am here to survive. Can't my vote be equally helpful for the town as in case of mafia as you say?

No, quiet by your standards meant getting a discussion started or taking active part in one.

Anyway, I have to disagree with those lynching User, and I'd like to give the same argument I provided in my defence of BKB in an earlier game. Nobody knows who's the mafia and who's town to start with, as a player, User can be very useful, because, even he's trying hard to understand who the mafia is, so that he can side with them, if needed. He has no guarantee that the mafia won't kill him.
I reckon we should give him time. He can be a great study.

User, explain me your tactic at the time of role claiming. Did you or did you not think that considering that you're going to reveal that at this point of the game, you're not on the town side neither on the mafia side, some of the townies may well be aggressive towards you, like they are now. Mafia's too will see you as a threat. Agreed that you are here to survive. That's understood by me and I appreciate you revealing that you are neutral rather than saying that you're on the town side because I don't see how a survivor shall say so, when he has the great opportunity to be neutral and that way also has the more chance of surviving.

My point of view is, you could have waited maybe a little more (say, till the point when the day was about to end) and then revealed your role because let's admit it, claiming survivor and that too a neutral one at that, is a bit risky early in the game. Perhaps if you hadn't role claimed early in the day, someone else might have been in the firing line, which would have benefited you. Why did you feel the rush to role claim so early in the day, that's my question. It's very important to know your tactics before even making the slightest of the judgments on your role claim.

There was no rush. And, I have already posted numerous times about why I claimed. Please bother to read and then post. And, you mean if I had claimed when the day was about to end, that wouldn't be early in the game? And, wouldn't PD extend the day phase? Come on..

----------

Also, I am sure this would have been another boring day 1 without me claiming. So, I am happy with whatever I did. As a survivor, I thought this was the best way to go about it. If it doesn't work, I am not really fussed when people can't see how vital I can be later in the game. Yes, there is another side to it but, you guys need to trust me if you got to use me to your advantage..

I agree with everything you've said here User, but trust you? Naah :p

----------

In a larger game maybe but in a small game every day phase can be vital.

Agreed, but by focusing on the survivor, we're essentially turning our eyes away from the mafia, who would be licking their lips with the prospect of a reduced town vote.

I still feel we can use User to our advantage. Votes and discussion are the only things we can use for the town's cause.

I've got an idea. We'll lynch off User and then he can replace Mark or Pallu. That way we still get his analysis and we get rid of a useless role!

:(

...and I was thinking what has got into Abhas

----------

That post was directed at Abhas not trusting me..

In all fairness User did claim so he can avoid the mafia targeting him at night. Or atleast thats why I claimed.

I am still undecided on whether I want to lynch User or not. The arguments for both side are strong, but I guess I can only decide when we come closer to the night. I actually agree with Colins idea of lynching User just so he can come back into the game.

I think till then, we can atleast do something useful such as discussing the balance, or any other scummy play. In an 11 player game, with an individual, we can possibly have 3 mafia. It could be 4 but that would mean we dont have a cult/serial killer.

And I agree with Abhas, Colin its not the quantity of posts, I think activity is judged by how impactful your posts are. There are loads of people who just post passively to avoid attention.
