What are you allowed to take inside? I've heard that you aren't allowed a camera, cell phone, etc. Is water/food etc available inside the stadium?

Banners/Posters?

How accessible are the cafeterias and stuff? I'm asking this because I am likely to be attending the match with my 70+ year old diabetic grandpa and just in case he needs a sugar pick me up I know where to go :p.

Cheers. BTW the match i'm going to is in Chennai.

Cameras and cell phones are allowed in Wankhede, not sure about the other grounds. Some grounds have rules of not allowing such stuff inside the stadium, one of them is the stadium of Hyderabad but luckily no WC match is scheduled there.

Water and food are available in each and every stadium of India, don't worry about the food, you'll get it easily.

And yes, banners and posters will also be allowed if they do not violate the rules. Some banners and flags might be available outside the stadium too so you can directly purchase them from there.

Are tickets sold only at the venues or do they have locations in malls etc. I thought the England vs WI game would be sold out but looking at the crowds at neutral games I think I'll be ok.

The tickets are sold at the stadium, KyaZoonga.com (always crashed! :p) and in most of the outlets of Reliance, especially in Reliance Fresh.

And don't expect any neutral group match to be sold out in India.

Reliance fresh!! Sweet, there is one smack dab across from my grandparents house. :D I'll see if I can grab some tickets to that as well.

I certainly hope they've improved the concessions since the last time I was at a game. Then, to buy water I'd have to go to this makeshift wagon thing and buy a pouch of water after standing in line for ages.

Is the alcohol available at any of the stadiums? and how clean are the toilets cause I've seen a public toilet in India before and I'd rather walk into the depths of Hell

If it were me in your position, I would hold it in.

As for the alcohol, I don't think so as they must respect that Muslims can't drink. Plus, it would be frowned upon in Indian society even if there weren't Muslims. I don't think it has a place in India.

It's a cultural thing, alcohol is a bit frowned upon there. I think Indian fans are crazy enough sober :p.

and about the toilets, i NEVER use public restrooms anyways...ESPECIALLY in India. The only decent ones are the restrooms in the big malls which are cleaned like after every person. I think they are pay-to-use as well, which i think is a must in places like India. Some of the gas stations in Detroit are hard to beat in the cleanliness department...sticky floors are the absolute worst.

No cell phones or cameras are allowed at the starting point. They'll check you. Maybe cells are allowed. Water and food are available inside. Banners/posters are allowed provided they don't violate rules. If you bring a banner with a stick they'll remove the stick for you.

Also I could not even take a whistle toy inside the stadium. At first they rarely allow anything except banners, posters, charts etc. But later, the security allowed to take food or anything inside. The match which I went was Chennai Super Kings V/S Rajasthan Royals @ Chepauk.

You'll probably land up in jail if you take alcohol inside by-passing the security by some means! :p

And as far as the public toilets are concerned, the situation is not too bad now but still can be a lot better. It's advisable to avoid using them as far as possible.

As far as my experience in Chepauk is concerned , they din allow me a bag inside that consisted solely of books , water bottle & a lunch bag ! However they did allow cell phones & binoculars . The match was between CSK & Delhi in Round 13 of IPL 3 .

Mohali stadium had strict laws earlier but now they allow cellphones but in selective games.

Alcohol is served in corporate boxes in most stadiums.

Don't even talk about public toilets in cricket stadiums, railway platforms or bus stands. :p

Need to get clear on the whole cell phone thing. I'll call in tomorrow. Why aren't we allowed them in the first place? Why not cameras either... I'm okay with no cameras but it would be nice if i could take a camera phone in to take some sly snaps.

We called a reliance fresh in Adyar and they had no clue about tickets for the matches. Maybe i'll just do venue pickup through the KyaZoonga website. We manged to get our tickets for the India-WI game through them but after the recent ticketing debacles that they were involved in, I'm a bit hesitant to order through them again.

That is strange. In Mumbai, tickets are available in almost every Reliance Fresh outlet.
