No Requests Quincy159's Downloads (Totally Retro): 1990's Bat and Equipment Sponsor Pack Released

hi mate I seen some post's and screenshots of 90's bats including a screenshot of AB Duncan Fearnley and merv hughes County bat, are you still working on them

I apologise profusely to everyone interested for the long delay in releasing my 1990's Bat Pack. I certainly hope it was worth the wait.

Included are 24 bats of the era with many well known and common bats plus a few less known ones for good measure. All of the bats have either been completely remastered from pictures of bats on the internet. Some however, I have needed to create from scratch as the original images were not of acceptable quality. special thanks to custombats.co.uk where I was able to obtain much of my material.

Please note, these bats are not perfect, they are merely representations of the original and have been designed where possible to be used with the modern and current bat models. Some though, such as Gray-Nicolls can only be used with the current model due to limitations with the bat template.

The excel spreadsheet and pictures will give you the list of bats available and you will also find a series of era correct equipment sponsors to use such as County, Duncan Fearnley, Gray-Nicolls, Kookaburra, Gunn & Moore and Slazenger. I am happy to make other sponsors from the era if anyone is interested.

To install just copy the 'Don Bradman Cricket 14' file over the one in your 'My Games' folder or wherever your Don Bradman Cricket 14 folder is located. I do recommend you backup your folder first.

njoy!

Should you have any issues or otherwise, please feel free to leave feedback.

Wow, just wow. Look brilliant.

Will you be doing any of these for 17? Early days but retro bats are really not represented at this stage.

I am happy to do so however as I said in the post below I am going to hold off on DBC17 until the critical bugs are ironed out. In the future however I would like to put some effort in modding for DBC17 as well as providing support for DBC14.

The official blockerdave review... | Page 6 - Don Bradman Cricket 17 Forum on PlanetCricket Forums

Many thanks for the feedback and I hope you enjoy the SS Jumbo, I remember you were looking for one of those at one stage. Not sure if it made it to the 90's, however I included it anyway. I think it looks great in the game. I'm happy with the Millichamp & Hall/Puma too as I experimented a bit with the shading of that one and it looks better than I hoped in game.

Holy moly the legend returns! That bat pack looks so awesome quincy great job champ. Looks like I'm resurrecting my 1998-99 Ashes series! Jeez that Gold Crown looks great, we had one of those in our kit and I used to love batting in the nets with it (because I was shit and came in at 11 and lasted an over max)

FWIW I made all the correct teams for all the corresponding uniforms you created.

I'm pleased you like it. Thanks for the feedback on the Gold Crown, that one took longer than any of the other bats to create. It is fully retouched from a label that was good to start with, however it was not completely straight around the edges and the original was falling away from the viewer. Joys of trying to convert a 3d original object in 2d format. All up it took about 8 hours of work to make it to a point where I was happy with it.

The Ashes of 1998/99 to me was a wonderful series. I will never forget the frustration of watching Dean Headley smashing us (Australia) in the final innings at Melbourne where we once again had a small target to win a game.

I hope you get as much enjoyment from the pack as I had creating it.

Thanks for the teams too by the way.

I love the bat pack, thanks again mate. I have to say that I love the kits you have made as well it's really allowed me to have a time warp back to the golden era of my cricketing life. Sometimes when I'm playing I'm still in amazement of how great everything looks. I had planned on making a giant imgur post of different screenshots of the on field play of all the various teams just to highlight how wonderful it all works.

Having attempted (poorly might I add) to make some bats I ended up just giving up and leaving most of them half finished or poorly done just as "that'll do" so I do appreciate the time and effort that you've gone to. The only way for me to give something back was to create all the teams for your kits and the ones mattyg did and somebody else who I can't find but they did one of the years that you didn't, I believe the 1984/85-1987/88 kits. I don't recall if @blockerdave ever got the teams to correctly download or not but I've been changing them to suit your bat pack mostly if you or other people want them

Now if only I could reliably find out which bats the Pakistani and Indian players used haha that's proving to be challenging sometimes particularly for the 1980's.

Hey @quincy159 what fonts did you use for the 1988-92, 1992-94 and 1996 World Cup kits? I've made some World XI teams as well as all the SWC 99 teams including the all time and would like to have the names on the front. Unless you made the font yourself?

I'm very pleased to hear you are enjoying these bats. One thing I will say is that modding is not always easy and what I can produce now is of a much higher standard than when I started. Perserverence, patience and willingness to learn means that I am able to give the DBC community something to enjoy that allows people such as yourself to 'time warp' back to their favourite period of cricket history and enjoy it all over again.

I would love to see the screenshots you have particularly of that 1998/99 Ashes as this is one of my favourites. At the moment I have started to play thorugh the 1993/94 summer with Australia taking on South Africa and New Zealand. First Test of the the Trans Tasman Trophy won by Australia by 9 Wickets. Centuries to Michael Slater and Mark Greatbatch. 10 wickets in Match to Shane Warne, 5 in an innings to Danny Morrison. looking forward to the World Series Cup with the 'Lightning Strike' kits.

To find the equipment sponsors I usually just use Google or Bing with search criteria such as 'Javed Miandad batting'. Sometimes I get something useful, othertimes not.

Big thanks to you for the teams you have created and to all of those who have taken time to create players, umpires and teams for the Academy. This work in itself is a wonderful contribution to the community and the game is better for it.

I remember that the 1996 WC Kit I used 'Jackport College NCV' (you may need to find a download), if not I will have it somewhere for you just ask. The 1988-92 kit I recall needing to modify the "A" on the Australia name and I've just remembered it was 'Krinkles'. For the 1992-1994 Kits I used "Sablon" but needed to create the first and last letter in the name separately as the letters were of greater size than those in the middle of the script. Again I have this one too if you are finding the font difficult to locate. I also used one of the editing tools to create a white border aound the font as per the original kits.

Why don't I just give the fonts to you now! Just check how you need to install these, if they are compatable with your graphics editor.

Thanks for the fonts mate I see what you mean about how they look in my editor program they definitely come out differently but I'll get there in the end.

Here's a few screenshots from the old 1998 Ashes test I started but never finished. Just going through my screenshots folder and I was reminded of my 1995 Queensland v 1996 South Australia game where I was able to use your test kits to great effect and I think they look magnificent, it's too bad I did such a crappy job on the logos as you can see. I can upload any adboards if you want just me know

Thanks for the screenshots, you're right, those test kits look pretty good! Personally I think you have done a great job with the logo's. Unfortunately, particularly from the 1990's era, there is a lack of HD images to work with and unless you are skilled with re-touching those logos they may not come out as you may hope. Those Queensland Cricket and SACA logos though look great and I particularly like the Ansett sponsor on the Australia kit. Another great Australian company that has gone under!

Those adboards look really good too, if you could upload them it would be great.

I am working on some adboards from the 1993/94 season at the moment and hope to upload them next week once Christmas has passed. Just a bit of trouble with the Benson & Hedges board as the space available isn't long enough. I am struggling to find an era consistent 'Suncorp' board for the purpose of a game at the Gabba. if anyone could help that would be fantastic.

Once again, many thanks and Merry Christmas!

Not sure if this is the right place however, I understand not everyone celebrates Christmas but for me this time of year is about family, friends and those we regularly spend time with in our lives regardless of our differences. It is a time of peace, goodwill and reflection on what has past and hope for the future.

Regardless of if you celebrate Christmas or not, I would like to wish everyone joy of the season, with peace, goodwill, and best wishes for the new year.

I would like to thank all of you who have given me support in this thread, been constructive in your feedback, and helped to make this game, which helps satisfy the yearnings of cricket tragics all over the world, better for all of us. I look forward to providing more content during the next year.

Seasons Greetings!

The Benson & Hedges adboards are pretty difficult, this is the best that I've been able to come up with but they look pretty shit from far away. It's annoying that some adboards are smaller (like GLP) so you get the cut off like the Mitre 10 one below

Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

I was struggling with a decent older VB adboard as well and an old Lightice and Telecom one. A lot of them I just end up chopping and rearranging to get them properly because that's all that is available, sometimes they're easy. I made a really awful DB Draught to throw in for the 1992 world cup games in New Zealand but that's another difficult one to source.

Off the top of my head I have: Thrify, Mitre 10, SGIC & West End (Adelaide) XXXX (Gabba) McDonald's, Foster's, Carlton & United, Ansett Australia (with and without logo but needs a border) Goodyear, Coca Cola (old school + using the one that was in the major ad pack on here) GIO (I couldn't fit Australia in between two logos so I'm thinking of putting GIO and something else on the same adboard) Norwich (surprisingly difficult) Natwest, Vodafone, a crappy Hero Honda (for the 1999 world cup) The Daily Telegraph (UK) FlyEmirates (sort of 1999 version, again surprisingly difficult to find) Pepsi (1999) Air New Zealand, MRF Tyres (1992) Firestone (Just the logo, it looked bad doing it the proper way) Shell (1992) and there's an Akai (I think I will put Akai & GIO together) Cornetto, Mazada (black with logo, blue without) and Ampol (just the logo I haven't used it)

The other ones I tried to source were 3D paints, Beaurepairs (couldn't find a white on blue) and I can't think of what else is needed off the top of my head haha The McDonald's "Big Mac" was used instead of McDonald's IIRC.

I can upload them if you want, I've been working out which ads are on which stadiums but I've only been bothered to do half so far. I have a few field markings like the Ansett Australia test series, CUB and a blank one which is used for the Benson & Hedges series

The problem with the logos I had was how they appear in the menus. They look alright on the uniforms (SACA one was a bit dodgy but took a lot of work to edit an image) but I messed up big time in the menus lol I only did NSW, QLD and SA. I couldn't find decent images of the rest. I really would like to find an old south african cricket union logo too but no luck so far

I would really like to see those ad boards as it seems that you have created quite some variety from the era. Whatever you feel like sharing would be great.

I have some ad boards available that I have developed that I can post later today.

From 1993/94 Australian summer: Kookkaburra/ACB; Benson and Hedges (Work in progress), KFC, Cascade, SGIC, Westpac, Telecom (A work in progress immediately before the change to Telstra), XXXX Gold, Suncorp, KFC, VB (Fictional, you can't have the MCG without a VB Board), Channel 9/Swan Lager, Hobart Mercury/Tasmanian.

From England during 1993 Summer: BBC Sport, NPower, ING, Vauxhaul/Tetley's/Texaco (Symbol), Gunn & Moore, Cornhill Insurance (Not Great), Texaco, Duckhams/Beefeater, The Times, Duncan Fearnley/Fosters.

I have a busy day today, however I will upload these later this afternoon/evening.

In the meantime are any of these logos below useful to you? I intend to make at least a beta copy this week anyway for my series against South Africa in 1993/94.
