Random Thoughts

I agree with you there with the exception of a few members. I know Jake is a racist piece of white trash but I also do know that Blake is not. He is a pretty normal and educated kid, I think he just looses his temper every once in a while.

His behaviour has been very erratic of late. Ironically I made a prediction in the staff forums earlier this morning that he'd end up getting banned soon, didn't expect it to be within hours.

It's a forum, people will get disillusioned with it and very few will stay for long periods of time. Peoples lives change, the board changes, some move on quietly, others not so. 10+ years this place has been going, that's a long time.

Anyway, random thought.

Hit the green baize tonight for the first time in about 5 months, very rusty.

Man, what a dike. These racists pieces of ████ are the number one problems to society today.

If they hate this place so much, why do they keep coming back? Doesn't make any sense.

You can't 'lose your temper' like that. Its just stupid. You get pissed off because people use smilies in their text? Get over it, there are much bigger problems in the world today.

Especially coming from people who live in a multicurtural society, I just don't get why they can't understand that there are lives and cultures different to their own.

The fact of the matter is that this forum houses some incredibly immature, young kids. Its only a number of those, probably could count them on one hand, that breakthrough and stay here when they hit maturity. I'd claim I'm one of those, as was Matt (Evo) and Culli before they left, Treva...there's quite a few from the era I came along who've made it here.

Every step of the way there has been a kid who's rocked the boat, but its a phase, and wont come around again for a while. I mean its like everything on a forum, it goes quiet in between games, staff let their high standards slip (there's been a few of these incidents, I cringe at what I wrote alongside Duff many years ago, but it did help to some extent).

At the end of the day, some kids take this place too seriously.

The part that made me laugh was how they thought they had successfully conducted some sort of sting operation by creating multiple accounts without the admins finding out :laugh.

Isn't that just the pinnacle of sadness? To actually think that its a win, to get around the Admins without them noticing on a forum? I mean, life doesn't get much worse on a forum, does it?

Lol, Blake's thread was good read. :laugh

After reading all of it it seems his main point was; "you're on PC, how gay are you?", but he was on for four hours straight posting in that thread... Go figure...

Creating something like that definitely tells you more about him and Jake, than it does about anyone else.

He does have a point that the shite members are increasing exponentially. Even the quality of English spoken on the forums has disintegrated.

Yeah, the idea was good, he just went about it the wrong way lol.

The idea wasn't good at all. What good is going to come by complaining about the English of other users? You can hardly help it if they don't speak English as a first language and if the education in said country is crap. Seriously, Asia teaches great Science and Math, but horrible English.

If you do want to change that, maybe open up a sub-section on the forums dedicated to helping members improve their English. All you native speakers can have little tutorials and tips and hand out advice to the non-native speakers.

And sense of humour varies drastically in culture too, and it doesn't help that a lot of the jokes they crack lose all their humour in translation from Hindi/Urdu to English. They are much funnier in the native language.

I won't deny that there exists a perennial problem of poor English and low posting standards on this forum, especially in areas like Cricket 07 forum, and Cricket Leagues, but instead of going all guns blazing against such posters, we surely can encourage and inspire them to post well for the sake of improving the quality of PC. You can take a look at thee current posting standards Adityacricketer, who was probably the worst poster here even a year back, to get I am trying to state. It's not that hard to better someone's proficiency in a language, provided a healthy and inspiring ambience is conjured up.
