Story Returning To Former Glory - The Journey Of The Australian Cricket Team [ODI Rankings]

Oh! Proteas!

Smith played well there. As far as Australia bowling is concern Siddle bowled well. Lets see can South Africa do something special.

You're doing good job Griffo. Maybe adding 1 or 2 more pics of the players will look better and improve your presentation. :)

Shaun Marsh took his time to ensure victory, making 101* in the process

Australia has once again come away with a victory against South Africa finding themselves leaving the country with a 4-1 series win. It was Shaun Marsh who guided Australia to victory with relative ease as they reached the total with 11.5 overs to spare and for the loss of just one wicket.

Needing 199 for victory, Australia got off to a slow but steady start treating the new ball with respect and taking runs when available. Phil Hughes reached his 50 from 62 balls which was then soon followed by the 100 partnership between Hughes & Marsh. Soon Shaun Marsh also reached his 50 from 69 balls but a run out from Graeme Smith saw Phil Hughes back in the dressing room for 74. Ricky Ponting joined Shaun Marsh at the crease working together to not only see Australia reach the total but for Marsh to reach his century in the process.

Australia finished the series with a dominant performance and will be carrying good form into the Twenty20 World Cup in which they will be expected to better their efforts from the previous version where they lost to Zimbabwe and were disappointing all-round.

Australia Regain Number One Spot In The Rankings

Ricky Ponting in a press conference as Australia are named the best side in the one day arena

After a 4-1 series victory over the Proteas in their own backyard, Australia has been announced as the best one day side in the world once again. South Africa only just recently stole the title from the Australians when they toured Australia and beat them convincingly but Australia has now taken back the crown with a vengeance.

?I?m proud of the boys for fighting back so quickly? said Australian captain Ricky Ponting ?Its a true credit to their commitment on and off the field and we look forward to maintaining our title as the best in the world? he added.

Australia will forget about the 50 over format for the time being with the Twenty20 World Cup in England next on the agenda followed by the Ashes series. ?Its hard not to look past the Twenty20 World Cup and focus on the Ashes but we hope to win both events. Wanting revenge for what happened in 2005 will be more than enough motivation for the boys to perform their best? said Ponting. One thing is for sure about the Australian cricket team, the future is certainly not bleak with many big challenges o the horizon.
