Glancing at the U.S. code and related case law, I think you'd be hard-pressed to prove that your character had been defamed and that you suffered damages as a result of it. Furthermore, the terms and conditions you agreed to when registering on this forum, while not a legal contract, serves to protect us from legal action.
I, of course, am not a lawyer so you may well have a case if you really have the time, money and desire.
That was my point at the time, you can make a case for anything if you have the time, money and desire (and a legal team that has nothing better to do with its time) - whilst I have little of the first and the third, the second isn't a problem. The terms and conditions you refer to are rather basic and in such a situation it's not so much a case of what is written, but what isn't and what is or isn't implied. It is rather naive to assume that a perfunctory perusal of case law on the subject is sufficient to make such a judgement. You are, of course, assuming that I was referring to defamation of character alone which I wasn't neccessarily.
I tend to give people the chance to make amends and the fact that the ban was reversed with reasonable speed would mitigate any loss that may or may not have been suffered.
