That would be the lamest reason to not have official videos of the game. Seriously, it is crazy that there are no official videos of the game in action. The only videos are shaky phonecam videos from a single days demo somewhere. There should be official videos demo'ing bowling, fielding, batting, career, other features etc.

As I've said before, a very poorly handled release. No release date yet (or vague release date), no official videos, no beta (closed or open a la Dark Souls 2), no pre-orders, no listings on any site even though the game is to be out in about 6 weeks, no marketing of the game in cricket magazines or gamespot/ign/gamestop/lamebook/twatter etc.

This isn't a reflection of the game itself which may (or not) be good but the way it is being handled. Having the CEO himself provide a few updates on a forum of a few hundred people isn't the right way to do it.
But lets see. Time will tell how their strategy plays out. All the above things I've mentioned cost marketing $$ which they may want to avoid spending to add to losses.

^ hi may be i should have added ':p' this icon at the end ..
I was just saying that to exclaim how these mospay guys are ripping of other peoples work shamelessly.

Also regarding marketing and more proper game play vids, Ross has mentioned more of them in the marketing campaign, which is supposed to happen close to release date so as to generate and maintain interest in that period instead of fizzing out due to early start.
That seems Ross's strategy.

I must agree about the concern over the lack of official videos and previews, which I thought should have been doing the rounds since the 'release date' was announced.
A lot of the marketing would be generated by YouTube,Facebook, word of mouth etc. without costing a fortune.
I don't see that a release of media now would effect sales in March. Quite the reverse.

i think the reason is the release wasn't "properly" announced - it wasn't a Big Ant or Tru Blu press release. it was basically a "placeholder" announced here to allow Ross to keep his word of news by end of January.

one would assume, and fervently hope, that a more official announcement with a precise date will follow shortly, along with (or quickly followed by) another trailer (or trailers) with more gameplay footage, and more actual info on stockists, price and pre-orders in the key markets. if we hit march and none of that has happened, then i think it would be time to ask questions.

but i think right now Big Ant / Tru Blu would consider the game is not announced in terms of a release date or their "usual" release pattern, so we shouldn't judge by what we think would usually happen by now for a game with a release date announced on 31 Jan, because one wasn't, not really*

*which is not me quibbling with "end of march" rather than a "date", more i think Big Ant / Tru Blu consider they haven't officially announced it.

I hope that you are right.
I must admit though, I was very disappointed with the video of the official world premiere. Very amateurish and not worthy of what should be a fantastic title.

My personal take on that was that the "Premiere" was an attempt to do one of two things:

1) by the time of the premiere it was two months from "Early September", and Ashes had been silent. I guess Big Ant wanted to show Ashes what they were up against in order to hopefully prevent them releasing at all.
2) by that time it was obvious to anyone who cared to think about it, that if Ashes did release, it opened up the possibility of DBC14 not releasing in 2013, and the premiere was a solid defense against "it's not ready accusations".

Also, by having anyone take their own footage, and share it on any platform they wished, it fully supported Ross' "we've nothing to hide" stance, which was backed up by him inviting Twistie3 to the office when EB didn't let him film with the more professional equipment. Big Ant produced video of the premiere would always be open to accusations of being controlled, edited, or "hiding" something. Again, this was in marked contrast to AC13 who were terrified of showing a thing.

Accepted, but the footage should have been shot using a steady camera and not a mobile phone (by the look of it). It should have shown that the publishers were professional people who were passionate about their game. I know that to be the case now, but that didn't come across on the video.

But the point is none of that footage was produced by the developers or publishers, it was "user" content.

In that case if it wasn't for the 'user' and his mobile phone the world would have had no idea what the game looked like.
It was a World Premiere there should have been professionals taking 'user' footage.

But as above, it wasn't a "real" world premiere, it was to spook ashes, or failing that prove the game was finished in case of delay, and back up the "nothing to hide" stance. A true premiere would have had much more fanfare. Again, Big Ant knew the vast majority of the "market" weren't looking/aware of the premiere.

As with other footage / trailers etc. I would be surprised if there were not more play sessions.

There was professional footage shot by Twistie for his YouTube channel and was invited back to BigAnt HQ for a full gameplay and shooting session with professional equiptment, including a full interview with Ross. All that footage is on YouTube in glorious HD.

Furthermore, the play session was for the public, not for professionals. The idea was for users in Melbourne to get their hands on the game, not to record it... luckily Matt was on hand and recorded it anyway but I'm pretty sure the focus was on getting people to play it, not watch it being played.

There's tons of video online of the game, I'm sure there will be more once there is a specific date announced...

And I think Ross inviting Twistie back was perfect, because it got us (a lot) of quality footage, and backed up the "nothing to hide" contrast with the other game
