..Says Ian Chappel

lots of Indians will think that he is an idiot. But actually read it and it does make sense, and maybe he is right?
The question is posed, who should replace him. Manoj Tiwary seems promising but he is currently injured and cannot replace Tendulkar without having played a few games for India, even if they are tour games. India do have a lot of games this year, including over 40 ODIs and will go with a squad rotation system, this may be a way to phase out the old guard slowly without a Ganguly/Chappell esque drop.
I hardly think Tendulkar is finished and he is still an integral member of the Indian batting line up. Just a few days ago, he, along with Ganguly, etched about 150 runs between them to play a major role in winning the match. As noted by the Sky Sports commentators, a first innings lead is priceless and Tendulkar gave India that.
On a less obvious note, he also gives a magnificence about the team which is in danger of going after such newcomers as Ishant Sharma are handed a spot in the team. The team which 'Sachin' plays for is always going to be regarded as great by the Indian public and it gives an incentive to get an international spot, but as it is slightly less tangible, we will leave that point alone.
For people who want to see Tendulkar dominate attacks, look no further than the seven (yes, I know) ODIs against England in a few weeks. You cannot expect a batsman to unleash all his shots in a Test match in England but I feel that the ODIs will be the truest test of whether the Tendulkar-flair still lives.
