Not because he is having a bad tour, but if Sachin and Ganguly can have rest, Dravid also needs that rest. He is of the same age, and we dont see the same old Dravid these days. May be he can have some rest to recharge his batteries.
I dont agree with your second point. Even if the BCCI talks rubbish like we play less than other countries, its still a fact that we play too much cricket. In such a packed international calendar, it is wise for the team to build a good bench strength and have players who can replace the main guys in the team. Even though we have quality players in domestic circuit, do we have players who can easily slip into the international team and settle down quickly? I feel people like Sachin, Saurav, Rahul, etc shouldnt player the lesser known teams and unimportant series. They need to give time for the younger lot to get used to international cricket.
I feel we have Kaif, Raina, etc who have enough experience to fill in the shoes of the seniors. They might have had failures but more importantly they have had experience, and failures are not going to remain for a long time for talented guys like them.
Until we find someone to replace Tendulkar, we cant see him retire. Same with Dravid. Ganguly has his replacement - Yuvraj. If Dinesh Karthik can evolve more as a batsman, I can rate him as somewhat of a replacement for Dravid. Technically solid, and he has aggression unlike Dravid.
