do you think asif and aemar of the pakistani team are the best opening bowling pair in the world, i dont think so they can beat the combination of steyn and morne morkel, they both have more experience and they even go together well

I'd say all of Aamer/Asif, Steyn/Morkel & Bollinger/Hilfenhaus would give any batting line-up in world cricket today equal havoc. If all three bowling combos are in top form & are assisted with helpul pace-bowling conditions.

Steyn/Morkel are probably the most exciting to watch in full cry though.

Good signs for world cricket coming into this new decade. That potentially all the top 8 nations excpet for India & NZ have fairly good/strong pace attacks once all are fit. Which is relief after spending most of first half of this 2000s era with only Australia having the only consistently strong pace attack around.

Too early to call Aamir and Asif the best. They are pretty close to the top, but they need to do it consistently for few more series to claim the tag of being "best in the world"

Steyn and Morkel are the best just because of Steyn who is ahead of any other bowler in the world.
Aamer and Asif are behind them followed by the Aussies new ball pair.

I think Aamer and Asif need to prove themselves further if they want to dethrone Steyn and Morkel. Asif is not that quick and may be vulnerable in less bowler friendly conditions. Morkel and Steyn are both quick and can be nasty to face in any condition.

Clearly Ishant Sharma and Abhimanyu Mithun are the best new ball pair in world cricket. :ninja

Morkel is rubbish. A&A are the best opening bowling combination by miles.

rubbish? he's only 25 and has loads of potential to be a damaging bowler which he has shown glimpses of. he has the ability to get good bounce and bowling consistently at 90mph with good bounce (and accuracy) is a handful for any batsman. though i must say he has struggled with control which is why he hasn't done all that much.

not too sure if you're serious about labelling A&A as the best opening bowl combination 'by miles'... dale steyn wins it on his own.

Yeah the control bit. Remember Hughes hitting him for 5 4s in an over because he kept bowling at his pads with a 7-2 field :laugh

Both Asif and Aamer have got most of their wickets against No.1-6 batsmen. Steyn on the other hand has an equal share of batsmen and tail-enders.

Top order 1-3 - Middle order 4-7 - Tail 8-11
43.5% - 38.2% - 18.0% - Asif
52.0% - 40.0% - 8.0% - Aamer
30.3% - 34.6% - 35.1% - Steyn

So yeah I am dead serious.

Got to go with Steyn/Morkel they are very fun and exciting to watch :D

The Pakistanis aren't exactly well travelled. It's one thing for their captain to back them, but for the rest of us, it's a bit of an ambitious statement; the sort of thing that people quickly rescind after a poor match.

Aamer and Asif make a deadly combo for Pakistan. Add Saeed Ajmal and they become a dangerous trio too.

Asif and Aamer are really World class but here Salman Butt is not in a mood to compare them with any other World class bowlers, he said this only so that A&A can get more confidence from this.

About on going discussion I will rate Aamer and Asif higher then all other nations opening bowling combination and their are quite lots of reason for that.
Aamer is much more young then any other international bowler but he is far more intelligent with his line and length, pace variation, swing variation etc etc.
Aamer is left hander so combine him with Asif is far more penetrating the Morkel and Steyn.
Asif on the other hand is more sort of irritating bowler, he will bowl medium pace but in one line which obviously irritate you as a batsman and eventually you loose your wicket.

Aamer yes but not sure about Asif. Bowl on flat track in Pakistan and then we will see.
