I remember reading some suggestions the Bradman name was been dropped from the sequel.

there is just about an argument to put another more modern player on the front a-la madden, but one would assume that would require licensing from a board because e.g. Joe Root's cricket-related image rights would be held by the ECB and he'd be compensated for that in his central contract.

I wouldn't have thought so. I believe you could do a deal with an individual player without the board - however, if you did that, you probably wouldn't be able to use the England Kit/ECB branding on it.

stand corrected - would have thought that they wouldn't let a contracted player be used for something like that for which there could be a collective license. my understanding is that while they could have kit supply agreements, and non-cricket related endorsements, other cricket-related ventures would be covered by an image-rights clause in the contract.

i know it works similar to that in rugby (South Hem) where the players are board-contracted.
