after his dismal performance withthe bat for the past few series,i guess its time saurav ganguly shud be shown the door.

we have the likes of Yuvraj and Kaif waiting in the wings who deserve more than a chance.

i feel ganguly might be allowed to continue in the onday team but when it comes to test cricket he is all at sea.

i guess kumble shud be given a chance to captain the side and that would be a token of gratitude to the gr8 man hor his sheer commitment ot the game.

well i wouldn't drop him just yet as he is a good captain but if failures continue in the next two series, i feel his time his gone!

We've already had a controversial debate on Ganguly.
Personally I feel he should be rested and made to play for Bengal for 6 months and then he can come back.

yes that is not a bad idea either, he should also get extra batting tips from people like sunny gavaskar

I feel now the time has come for him to be rested.. Sad but this has to happen. He cant continue being a non playing captain for long. And i hope no one cites the example of Mark Taylor, etc. They perceived him because they had other players to take up the responsibility. Here, we dont have too many.

I dont think he should be rested,I mean he has a average of 42 in odis and some where between in test,I think he should be dropped from captincy,That really has effected his batting abilities to make more runs, just keep him for two or three test matches,He migh as well comeback like sehwag,

I somewhat agree..After all he has played a part in the way Indian team improved in last 4-5 years. I would say one LAST chance.

one word... "yes"

lol.
i think ganguly should be dropped from the side for a period of time. keep him playing cricket at a first class level and get him back into good batting form, into good captaining form. to drop him completely at this stage though would be ridiculous, he isnt a bad captain or player. saying that, i agree with the one last chance mentality too. like anyone else, his future is up to the way he performs, so for his sake lets hope he can improve yeah?

well i have been a ganguly fan for years if you read my earlier posts you'll know.

I think its high time he's dropped. You cannot have a skipper who cannot lead from the front.Apart from his 144 at the gabba i have never seen him play well except before he was captian.
He should be dropped and sacked as captain of the squad too.Rahul Dravid is a much better captain for ODI's .He'll need some time to get in the test grove.Though he did win the series against pak.
My word make someone like kumble to captain india in tests(he was india vice captain after the neglish tour of 96 and also in world cup 96) and let dravid take over india in odi's

why do you people want to make ganguly play first class cricket .

With his aggressive nature he'd be better paired up with baichung bhutia captaining india in footballl.Would be a damn good game for him. He'd even able to physically bash up players which he'd love.
I vote for ganguly to be india's future football captain.

thats more like u iceman... never know the procedures of this game... :) Domestic Cricket for intl cricketers is an ironing board, where they iron out the wrinkles of technique...

Don't worry he won't get to play for Bengal... if some nice English County is ready to sign up Lord Snooty then he can improve himself in the country where his form is always great... otherwise the only chances that he's goin to get to redeem himself are the onedayers against Pak, SL and then the triseries in SL...

to me, its not a question of LAST CHANCE...its a question of who if not him? I wouldn't want to mess with Dravid/Tendulkar's batting... Veeru's a bit churlish... I think Kumble would be appropriate, but then the question rises - "for how many years?" - it would be a haphazard decision and not an investment in future... Kaif is the only person who can take it up... if BCCI has the guts like SA board and introduce Kaif in the team as a captain, then I am for the removal of Ganguly or else let him remain where he is...

I have given detailed stats abt the present Test Captains in the Pakistan in India thread... they prove that apart from one or two instances, there's not much like leadin from the front (consistently) esp. with the bat... every Indian captain's batting avg as skipper has fallen from the overall figure... and Ganguly's fall is the least... and if one reads Ganguly's past well, then be ready for a savage onslaught in the ODI's...

I agree with you...India deos take big toll from captain
and I also wish "and if one reads Ganguly's past well, then be ready for a savage onslaught in the ODI's" comes true because its been a long time since we saw that...
Its amazing how a person who use to be so good (someone who has scored more then 15,000 runs in International cricket and has an awesome record on paper atleast) is awfully out of form and struggling to save his spot in team...
but if he doesnt succeed in upcoming tournments then he should defiantly be dropped from team and left alone for a while (atleast for a series) and earn his place back in the squad
he is a great player and absolute pleasure to see when he is in good form
hope to see ganguly back in form soon (dont want to see him droped from team)

Perhaps they could experiment and try to get Ganguly to open again. But that would mean that either Sehwag and Tendulkar would have to go in to the middle order. It depends how much they want to save their captain...
