Solve your computer problem with the help of experts!

Right, thanks.

I'll have to have a look at getting a new one soon then. Although I have been thinking of getting a new laptop for a while now anyway, so I might splash out and have a look in the sales after christmas.

Need help (Laptop problem)

I have got a sony VAIO laptop. Till now it was running alright, but now whenever I open it. I is on for 2-3 minutes and then shuts down by itslf without any warning. Please help guys:)

if you're running by battery, and it isn't plugged into the power supply, then your battery is probably worn out and so it doesn't hold it's charge properly. Other than that, i don't know what it could be.

I'm running it with the charger only:noway

From my experiences, it could be a problem with the fan and that the laptop over heats to quickly and then shuts down. It's just that the fan has got overly dusty or clogged up by things and now cannot run so doesn't cool the laptop down and it shuts down.

What do I do now?

Do you have any VAIO backup DVDs? Try running those for some startup fix errors.

Just call up the customer care and address the issue. I had similar issues on my Acer Aspire which used to turn off when games like Fifa 10 were on. They suggested me to download a particular update and then it worked like a charm.

And yes, the laptop was turning off due to over-heating during the games.

BTW, does a blue screen appear before the laptop goes off? If yes, then it might be an issue related with over-heating as Ollie suggested.

Need help (Resolution Problem)

Hi just re Installed Windows XP on my old PC which i am using as a backup and currently after reinstalling i am facing a resolution problem when ever i change the resolution from 800x800 to 1024x756 i face an error called high frequency (hertz rate is high exceeding form 56 hertz to 65 - 75 hertz) please help me out i hate using 800x800 resolution

My System configuration

Intel P4 , Intel 845GLVA series
786MB Ram , 40 GB HDD
15 Inches CRT monitor

----------

In other words to say its Monitor goes out of frequency and does not display anything when the resolution is changed to 1024x756

It is an issue with the monitor as the monitor cannot handle frequencies above a certain range.
On the display properties, on the last tab, select advanced, and in the monitor tab, select the 50 hz frequency then try.

Will a re install of XP get me away from all the virus, etc.? I'm doing a re-install on my old comp due to its annoying behavior.

Yes it should. Format the drive then install it and nothing should be left from the original installation
