South Africa Team Discussion

South Africa's ProteaFire campaign is like India's BleedBlue campaign.

But ProteaFire has amazing promos since the start and they cover the team so well. Love their youtube channel as well. This one is from 2014: Goosebumps !!

Since the 1999 world cup, I have always followed this one rule. If not India, Then it better be South Africa winning the cup. Go South Africa ! This time they dont have too much pressure on them either like they did last time. Everyone banking on India, Eng, Aus to make the semis. They might just sneak under the radar and reach the knockouts while everyone is obsessing with other teams. Just gotta control those suicidal instincts in knockouts

Just have to share this ...

Temba Bavuma as ODI captain? Seriously?

Bavuma has played only 6 ODIs and 8 T20Is.

If they didn’t want to burden their best players, go with Rassie? Miller or Morris as T20I captain? Obviously Bavuma's appointment is historic because he’s Black, but clearly he wouldn’t even be in the LOs teams if he wasn’t appointed captain.

Bit weird to make him the LO captain having only just broken into the side, but he does have plenty of leadership experience domestically and is a much better white ball cricketer with a good start internationally.

I guess the other option would have been to hand it to Klaasen, not sure if RvD has got previous captaincy experience.

Why the ........... is De Kock removed from captainsy

Extremely harsh to suggest that the bloke who averages (admittedly from a small sample size) 50 plus in ODIs and 30 plus in T20Is as someone who isn't there on merit. Was also the second highest run-scorer in the CSA T20 Challenge that concluded recently. If anything, I'd say that he has been given too many chances in tests and too little in white ball cricket.

EDIT : And he does have success with his domestic side. May sound controversial, but I don't think this was a bad decision.

sad to see South africa spoiling their team.

"Captain of the domestic franchise that wins the domestic T20 competition is appointed the national captain."

How dare they spoil their team, don't they know that Bavuma is only there due to the quota policy?

Then why hasn’t he played more LOs matches? Would’ve also helped with quota.
