South Africa's tour of India - October/December 2015

^ Look with regard to resumption of ties, I am with the govt. If they think its okay to resume ties, I am not going to complain. They are in a better position to decide these things, I just go with whatever they decide. Nawaz did try to rub it in, by giving the go ahead on 26/11, of all dates he could have chosen. Anyway, if the govt decides we should play, then from a cricketing perspective alone for the tests I would prefer England to UAE or SL any day.

Lets see. Unlike PCB, I dont it wont be easy for BCCI to get approval from their government

If we are talking of moeen ali i would have understood :p but lyon ?

Just look at his record more recently since that test match. He got a bucket full of wickets in the Delhi test of the same series and was instrumental in our defeat at Adelaide. India were just 2 down at tea on the final day at Adelaide, needing 140 odd to win. Lyon almost single-handedly won them the game.

he took wkts when we were trying to give it a go in the chase...anyway i dont think he would be one to give us shudders while he has certainly improved to how he was during the MSD rampage!

This is very interesting. I feel like we (Indian fans) need to learn something here.
Agreed.
I have learned it alot earlier. We indians Asians say what we see but the others won't because that will degrade their reputation. They will find a excuse for that.
We have to learn it very quickly.[DOUBLEPOST=1448647972][/DOUBLEPOST]Let's move on. It is never ending thing. Spinning track will always get the less credit than green tops. Whatever we do, it will be wrong.

Edit : Like they hate IPL but likes BBL. BCCI doesn't think DRS is good enough but their board does, so BCCI is wrong.
There are more.

@War anyway here is another link to the Fleming quote -

Batsmen won~~t find it easy on this pitch: Fleming - Thatscricket

Its not that I support Nagpur as the ideal test wicket, of course I don't, but I do defend Nagpur from what I think is undeserved criticism. The Fleming quote does show that actual under-prepared wickets outside the sub-continent, get away with criticism, in the name of testing the batsman's technique, while a pitch that offers help to spinners in Asia is slaughtered.

Its not Indian fans cared about the pitch, under-prepared or not, or had fire burning on it, we dont care. Two sides play on the same pitch, if the other side can compete on it why can't you.

When the series happened, we had knives out for all our players. We were angry with out players. I find that anger missing in SA fans. Its all directed at the pitch. Its as if SA fans and players alike were resigned to just losing on the wicket.

Ok fair enough on Fleming's quote, somehow I suspect he was more referring to preparation of pitch during the game rather that preparation leading up to test. Because those comments came after NZ bowled out IND on day 2 of game after rained had washed out opening day and the pitch was under covered for long periods and thus obvious dampness occurred.

Well Moeen is a good spinner & while people have tended to under-rate him he has shown that IND series was no fluke and he almost like Sakib these days in being considered a genuine spin bowling all-rounder.

I don't know how you guys missed this comment. I know you didn't watch this series live when you made some absolutely ridiculous comments few pages before but looks like you didn't even get a chance to watch Pakistan vs England series.

Also looking for someone who was saying that a gap of 10 days will allow South Africa to get better against spin.

Again the same old talk about the pitch. I mean it's getting boring now. This was the first genuine turner that India produced in this whole South Africa tour. Mohali wasn't a turner, neither was Banglore. It just proved the point that I made earlier in this thread that this South African team did not play spin well like they have done in past tours of india. This was obvious from the very first T20 when they were looking absolutely clueless against Ashwin. They did well to win the T20. However, if Ashwin was fit, India would have won the ODI series and I have no doubt about that.

So what are you saying how Mooen bowled vs PAK suddenly disqualifies him as spin-bowling all-rounder?

^Still can't stop trying to justify an underprepared pitch out side the subcontinent can you :)

Point made I think.

I'm saying it wasn't under-prepared before the game, to me a more accurate reflection would be to say the groundsmen were not able to maintain the pre-game preparation and maintain the pitch because of overhead conditions and because the pitch was under covers.

That scenario was sort of similar to what happened to the Mumbai 2004 wicket, when IND had monsoons leading up to game - but in that case it affected their pre game preparation for groundsmen.

Fleming's comments don't say which one he meant - it was open for interpretation unless somebody can show his those comments from 10 years ago and let him clarify.

Also I found this England likely venue for India-Pakistan Test series next year: Reports : Cricket, News - India Today

I have posted this in the England forum, but since I see England fans on this board, I would like to ask again - all very tentative as of now, but how do you feel about hosting the series - Yay, Nay or Meh?

Personally I love the idea of an India Pak test series in England. Something about it just feels perfect, I can't put my finger on it, yet, but there it is.

You will definitely get full houses, all the Brit Asians will come out

My neutral observation is that I had no problem with IND preparing turner, I think everyone expected them to resort to the 3 spinner tactic - similar to what they have done in the past facing many non ASIA overseas teams that come to IND

SA batsmen were clearly exposed to quality spin on helpful turners - however people wish to grade the Mohali & Nagpur wickets is a matter of opinion and semantics in a lot of ways. SA batted in this series a bit like how AUS did in 98 & 2001 IND tours (worse) before they finally worked out formula in 2004 to win. Seeing FAF struggle was a bit reminiscent of Ponting 2001 series & M Waugh in SRI 1993

So at the end of day IND just continuing modern trend of many sides proving to be strong at home & breaking the 9 year great overseas unbeaten record SA have. It doesn't change fact that SA still # 1 in general terms & that IND are in the pack with AUS/ENG/PAK trying to catch up behind NZ.[/user]
