Its just an outstanding presentation. :) The contest between these two teams is just as exciting as this story presentation. Simply stunning! :hpraise

Outstanding work mate, still one of the best stories on PC going around. Looking forward to the start of this match mate. Keep up the good work

quality presentation as always SR. Looking at the England team, they should be a shoe in to win this game, and if they can get to the semis and final and fire, then they are a real shot at winning the trophy. as you say... KIU haha

Group B, Live from Lords.

Good Start for Netherlands

There was a huge cheer when Rob Key and Ravi Bopara the two English openers walked out in the middle. Rob Key was on strike to face the first ball from the Australian born Dutch fast bowler Dirk Nannes. Nannes got of to the worst possible start as his first ball which was a bouncer wide of the leg stump, beat the keeper and went for four wides. But Nannes came back pretty well and just went for three singles in his next six deliveries. Edgar Schiferli shared the new ball and he received a warm welcome from the Kent skipper Rob Key by smashing him through point for the first boundary of the tournament. There was a huge cheer from the the crowd went the ball reached the ropes for the first four of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup. But Schiferli came back well pitching the ball on off and middle stump and not providing the two openers any room to free their arms. Dirk Nannes continued from the pavilion end and again bowled a brilliant over conceding just five runs of it and all in singles. The two bowlers were bowling a tight line and length and cramping the batsman for any room to free their arms.

Soon the second boundary of the World Cup came from the bat of Bopara and it was a text book cover drive beating Bukhari at covers. the run rate was just under six runs per over after three overs and Rob Key was struggling to score. The two batsman were unable to rotate the strike regularly but still the runs came. Dirk Nannes again bowled a good over conceding just six runs of the over. Jerom Smits the Dutch skipper decided to make a bowling change and gave the ball to Peter Borren. Borren started of poorly as he went for three runs of the first ball but replied brilliantly by giving Netherlands the first breakthrough. Rob Key who had struggled to rotate strike, went to clear the ropes out of frustration, but mistimed the shot and gave an easy catch to De Grooth at extra cover. Key had to go back to the pavilion for 14 runs of 21 balls and England were 34 for the loss of one wicket as Owais Shah came in the centre. Dirk Nannes was given a break and was replaced by Ryan ten Doeschate. Doeschate went for eight runs of his first over which included a brilliant shot for four by Owais Shah through point.

So after the end of seven overs England are 42 for the loss of 1 wicket. The Netherland bowlers have done their basis very well and have bowled in the right line and length giving less room for the batsman to play their shots. England need to increase the tempo as with this current run rate they will reach around 130 which is surely a very low score on such a good batting surface.

England: 42/1 (7 overs)
R.Bopara 17(16)
O.Shah 5(5)

Last Wicket:
R.Key c de Grooth b Borren 14(21)

D.Nannes 3-0-19-0
E.Schiferli 2-0-10-0
P.Borren 1-0-5-1
R.ten Doeschate 1-0-8-0

Good stuff bro.

England being their usual selves and basically just mucking up against rank opposition. They need Shah and Bopara to up the the run-rate and fast. Nice works shantanu, a good read :thumbs

Even though minnows ,Netherlands have been doing quite well.As usual superb presentation.I agree with Tom Bopara and Shah are needed to increase the run rate

Yeah I agree. England need to push on if they want to get over 200. Nice work Shan :)

Some good tight bowling for the Duth bowlers is keeping them in the game. For England only scoring at 6 an over against New Zealand is good work.

good update mate lovely presentation but you would expect England to dominate the Netherlands really :O

The presentation is wonderful as per usual mate. England win this comfortably. Looking forward to future updates

May be the 15th over can depict the exact position of England. If they preserve wickets and go for fireworks in last overs, then Netherlands are going to be in deep trouble. But who knows.. in this format of the game, anything can happen to any team! :)

Fantastic going!

Thanks a lot everybody for your brilliant comments..Sorry I wasn't able to update for the last few days because I was busy with my exam which finished yesterday and today full day I had gone for picnic. So I would try and slip an update tomorrow.

Still then keep the same support. :happy:happy

Wickets Falling at Regular Intervals

England had made a decent start in their seven overs scoring 42 runs and losing just one wicket. The match was very evenly poised and some wickets here for Netherlands could turn the match in their favour or a good 30-40 run partnership would turn the match in the favour of the host. Two batsman needed to raise the tempo and they need atleast 1 or 2 huge overs. And one huge over did come. Peter Borren who had got the breakthrough of Rob Key was hammered for 13 runs by the two batsman. Ravi Bopara started the over with a leg glance which beat the fine leg fielder who was a bit square, for four. Owais Shah also scored his first boundary of the match with the help of overthrows. Much needed big over for the host. But the bowling change did strike for the Dutch. Bukhari replaced Doeschate and he struck in 3 balls. First, Owais Shah went for the big drive but ended up giving an easy catch to Szwarczynski at covers. Shah departed for 11 runs and was replaced by the skipper who straightaway got of the mark with a single to fine leg.

Next ball, the settled Bopara was caught easily by Borren at mid wicket as he mistimed the leg glance. This was a huge blow for the host as they lost two quick wickets of Shah and Bopara in quick succession. Bopara had to make the long walk back to the pavilion for a well played 24 runs. Paul Collingwood was the new man in the middle. KP and Colly build a good partnership with help of ones and twos here and there. The Dutch bowlers were again on target with their line and length and gave less room for the two batsman. Collingwood scored his first boundary with a square cut over point for four. KP to joint Colly in party as he smashed Bukhari for four consecutive boundaries in an over. Bukhari started the over well, as KP played and missed the first ball. But the next four balls were smashed to all parts of the ground. The first was cut intentionally fine beating the third man four four. KP then played the leg glance which beat the fine leg fielder which was brought in the circle, for four.

But the skipper didn't stop their as he smashed Bukhari through point for the third boundary of the over and the fourth consecutive boundary of the over also came as he again smashed Bukhari, this time over mid on for four. This was a much needed huge over for the host. But the last ball of the over yielded the fourth wicket for the Dutch. Pietersen just defended the ball towards point and went for the quick single which led to the run out of Collingwood, as he fell well short of his crease. Another blow for England, as Colly departed for just 5 runs and England were 85 for 4 as Freddie Flintoff walked in. Jerom Smits the Dutch skipper made another bowling change, and introduce spin in form of Tim de Grooth, for the first time in the match.

konrm.jpg

The right arm offspinner got some good turn and bounce straightaway, but still Pietersen just played the ball towards long on for an easy single. Freddie Flintoff came on strike and the crowd started roaring as they wanted a huge hit straightway from him. But Freddie just defended the ball away. Wicket over here could be very important in context of the game for both the teams as the match was very evenly poised. And the much needed wicket did come and it was the wicket of dangerman Flintoff. This time Flintoff listening to the crowd went for the huge slog sweep - of a flighted delivery - but didn't get the desire distance on the sweep and gave an easy catch to Bukhari standing on the square leg boundary. Flintoff departed for 0 and was replaced by Graham Napier. Napier took 3 balls to get of the mark with a single towards long on.

So after the end 13 overs, the host England are in some trouble as they have lost 5 wickets for just 87 runs on the board. They need Napier and the other lower order batsman to support Pietersen who is striking the ball very well. For Netherlands, they need the important wicket of Pietersen in the next 2-3 overs. But the Dutch bowling has been brilliant and ontarget throughtout the game.

England: 87/5 (13 overs)
K.Pietersen 25(17)
G.Napier 1(3)

Last Wicket:
A.Flintoff c Bukhari b de Grooth 0(2)
P.Collingwood run out 5(5)
R.Bopara c Borren b Bukhari 24(21)
O.Shah c Szwarczynski b Bukhari 11(9)

P.Borren 4-0-31-1
M.Bukari 2-0-17-2
T.de Grooth 1-0-2-1
