I just read over everything, and I don't really get what the problem is... :o

I think the current SOTM system's working fine, and Suren's handling SOTQ.

As far as I know a story has never won back to back SOTM's, so I'm not really sure what the issue is with them getting nominated again.

Also for the SOTQ points system to work, they have to get nominated again.

Fair? Fair for whom? The people who do not put efforts and still want to win? The comments are there for the encouragement. People are also encouraged by constructive comments. But, here it seems only being in SOTM is the thing. Whom do you want to encourage by the way? Any particular writers?

How often do you see people commenting in stories? How many comments does a writer gets? (Excepting few, who have marked themselves as good writers)

Yeah, very nice. Put my question to me. The whole forum cannot comment in story section, I hope you're aware of that. Callum and Surender, I sincerely request you two to please encourage writers by nominating them in SOTM whether or not their stories deserve it. Otherwise, Binnu will always Slam the door and go away.

The thing is your system will force a complete reshuffle to the current SOTQ system.
Stories used to not be able to stand in the month after they won, but because of SOTQ, they now can.

I don't think that there is any writer at the moment who is putting his best efforts into his story but still has not been nominated in SOTM. Every good/quality story gets nominated in SOTM.

ATM pretty much every story active for multiple months is being nominated for SOTM, so if you're prepared to spend a bit of time on your story, it will get nominated eventually.
Really outstanding stories may get nominated after just part of a month though.

I'm not opposing SOTQ's. Let that go on.
If the writer is writing for a title (assume), once he wins SOTM, he'll have SOTQ, for which he'll constantly update. So, why nominate him again and again to keep him active when he'll update himself?

Nomination is good. But what about winning if he deserves? Infact, YOU personally won the SOTY, before winning SOTM. So, when a story deserves "SOTY", doesn't it deserve SOTM?

If my story won SOTY it doesn't mean my story should win SOTM as well. SOTY award is given to the story which has been going well from the past few months e.g. 6 months. On other hand SOTM is given to the story which has been the best story in the past month. 3 stories were nominated for SOTY. Obviously the members who voted for my story would have seen that is my story improving or not and am I taking the suggestions given by member into the consideration or not. On the basis of this not only my story but even other stories win SOTY, SOTM or SOTQ. When people vote in SOTM, they vote for the story which has been going well in the past month. Basically, the story which has been going well in the past month wins SOTM and the story which has been going well from the past 1 year wins SOTY.

Wait. So it means you've run your story well for 6 months atleast cause you won SOTY. In those 6 months, if you were running so perfectly, can't you SOTM atleast once in six times? You are completely wrong for your first sentence. A player needs to perform at domestic level, before he performs at international level. If he performs at international level without performing at domestic level, domestic structure has something to fix in it.

BTW, I've decided to stop backing up myself to this topic here cause one who can understand me, can understand what I meant by reading my explanations till now.
And, I'm happy with the present thing, but all I wanted is to give all fair chance and encouragement.

I don't really take it seriously that my story won SOTM or not. I don't write stories to win SOTM or SOTY. I am thankful to the members who thought that my story was good enough to win SOTY. I at least got nominated in SOTM and that itself is a big satisfaction for me. My story was good enough to win SOTY so it won but when it did not win SOTM it means that the other stories were better.

This topic is shifting to other way. Binnu has got his doubts clear so I guess everything is sorted out.
