It's really good to have some quality stories going on at the moment, and we'll finally have some good competition for SOTM :p

btw, when will SOTM be for this month? I'd say to have it now just before christmas or about the 5th-10th January to avoid the after christmas/new year time where people are going away.

Well SOTM - November was run into December, so TBH I wasn't even thinking of it ATM.

I'll probably have to start it up tomorrow just before Christmas, as I'll be going away after then, and won't get back until January.

How about having the timeline for voting till Jan 8? ( considering that some might be off for christmas-New year vacations ) :)

Then you'll get a lot of randoms, generally the shorter the voting period, the less randoms vote, hence 2 or 3 days is normally the best.

Lol, I'm just reading my post above Suren's. I actually completely forgot about it the day after I posted that, and now I've only remembered it again when reading it.

We might as well now just wait until the first week of January, as it seems pointless running it now with Christmas then the new year.

Yes, first week of Jan i.e. after the new year celebrations, makes more sense now :)

I think it's about time for the SOTM for December. Nearly the end of the first week of January :p

I was actually thinking about starting it yesterday, but I decided I'd wait until the weekend.
So tomorrow when you come on, VM me incase I'll forget, hence it'll be up sometime tomorrow.

How about banning posting generated commentary in stories section blindly? That would help in increase of quality stories in the forum.

Your views please :).

You can't really ban it, if people want to use it they can, as I'm pretty sure it's possible to use in a good way.

We can let people use commentary if they use it in a constructive way. But unfortunately, now-a-days, the misuse is far far greater than constructive use of generated commentary. The situation is not demanding, but still, to prevent further damage to the quality and keeping the future in mind, I think its better to implement some rule which states that the commentary should not be posted 'blindly' in stories section in my opinion.

There are few like Bounce, who used the generated commentary in a constructive manner, which is a good example on how commentary can be used in a good way.

What do you mean by 'blindly'. Anyway, I don't think it should be banned but I advise against it. I use generated scorecards for my Australia story but not commentary ;)

Following on from what Brendon said I'm definitely not going to ban it, but it's highly advised that you don't just post it as an alternative to writing.

Blindly in the sense, without making any changes to it. Okay, I agree in using it by working out a bit on it (after every over, a small paragraph by self summarizing the over or something, apart from the copy paste stuff) but, copy pasting the stuff from the note pad would not work in stories. (We write a story, we don't generate, copy-paste a story)
